“…in dealing with this minority on JWnet that are perpetually on the attack.”
RayPublisher,
I’m not sure “attack” is the term I’d apply generally, even to a minority.
JWN has a culture that allows for a fairly broad spectrum of response, and that’s a good thing.
Some communicate with language of wit. Others with sarcasm. Others with raw emotion, and much more. There’s lots of communication to be found in all this. The problem for a given individual—whether me or anyone else—is trying to translate these various communications into terms they comprehend for sake of growing their knowledge.
For the most part the term I’d apply would be robust. In a very few instances there is attack amounting to ad hominem. Otherwise it’s people sharing what they want, how they want, and some of this is more helpful than other of it. And, of course, there is the ever present silly stuff too.
In this discussion I’m grateful for the help that was given me.

slimboyfat,
Can you do me a favor?
To help me from wasting time, if you have a link to THE Facebook page would you provide it for me?
If it’s trouble don’t worry.
Thanks,
Marvin Shilmer
Well, much as I dislike what AAWA have done and their response up till know, all I see Marvin trying to do is try to understand what's happened (and I know what he means about time, it's taken me hours to read just this one thread) and then he's had the courtesy to let us know what he's found out, which a lot more than anyone has done who run the group. Along with a few others who have helped illuminate things that went on.
I just hope that things are getting sorted out and things can move on soon!
And this rubs my fur the wrong way:
I’m told there is no reason to disbelieve fizzywidget’s account of her/his, Dagney and Rebel8’s experience.
Well, good for you and whoever the mysterious people who are feeding you information. As far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure many people reading this,,, both Dagney and Rebel8 are long-time members of this forum, and their word was NEVER questioned. I don't know fizzywidget well, but I also believed his/her account from the get-go.
One good thing has come out of this 'discussion' - we all know a lot more about who you are, Marvin Shilmer.
Indeed talesin, what a weasel form of words to use: "I'm told there is no reason to disbelieve" fizzy, dagney and rebel. Wow how big of them/him. The arrogance is breathtaking.
Marvin do you know where the JWFACTS website is?
There is (still, despite everything that has happened!) a prominent link to the AAWA facebook page from the JWFACTS homepage.
But whenever I click on it, it asks me to sign in (presumably because it is now secret), which I am not interested in doing.
So unless you have a Facebook account and want to sign in you probably won't see anything either.
In fact it now says the page is unavailable.
I must have missed that development. When did that happen? Have they deleted the Facebook page for good or what? Have they started another?

“Finally, I think it sounds like they got the memo!”
Simon,
I can’t speak for anyone else, but Richard and Cedars for damned sure got my memo, and I for damned sure made sure it was understood. They each gave me a piece of their mind too, which is as it should be.
My expectation is that important things will be done, and that AAWA leadership will make a public statement either this week or next. One of my recommendations to AAWA leadership was that it refrain from saying anything more publicly or privately until some of the systemic things I observed had answers. I haven’t dug to find it, but from what I’ve read of you and others my impression is that individual AAWA volunteers (leadership or not) tried responding to some of this with little effect. A good response is an effective response. In this case that response should effect positive change rather than simple answers. I’ll probably see things when everyone else does.
Aside from the subject of this discussion, as I understand it there is an mission initiative in the works. I don’t know what it is. It was something said to me in passing and I had other things on my mind.

slimboyfat,
I know you’re one of the good guys, but damned if you don’t make it hard to see sometimes. Perhaps we all suffer a little from that ailment.
What you let take your breath away is not words AAWA said to me but rather a particular instance of me communicating what was said to me. Those words you cite above is my usage and not AAWA’s.
If I failed to make it perfectly clear in the other instances of sharing what I was told with terms like “confirmed” and “admission” then let me be perfectly clear now, and as a personal favor for you.
What AAWA leadership said to me was confirmation of the incident fizzywidget kindly shared with me.
