Eagleton's semi-affection name for the Dawkins/Hitchens rhetorical combo, google it. He apparently knew Hitchens when they were both Trotskyists.

ADCMS "dont throw stones when you live in a glass house" ?? it should be
Dont stow thrones when you live in a grass house.
There was this would-be ruler that lived in a GRASS HOUSE (what was he smoking) with weak rafters, foundations.
He failed to be made King, so declared it to be INVISIBLE and
STOWED the heavy heavenly THRONE in the rafters, eventually* they gave way and
it squashed him and his entourage. moral:
dont stowe thrones, particularly invisible ones if you live in grass house with weak realistic foundations, rafters.
* hopefully soon. stale statistics wont help. termites are better.

I would throw in another factor that should be taken into account:
When factoring "Jesus", one should also factor "Christ" and discount the number of times that "Jesus Christ" is used. The WT often uses the terms interchangeably.
(Jesus + Christ) - (Jesus Christ) = X
This way one could arrive to a more consistent representation of fatcs.

And how exactly would that change anything?

ADCMS,
Simply you would arrive to more mentions of the persona of Christ, offering a more realistic balance between the mentions of Jehovah and the mentions of Jesus Christ, that's all. It's trivia, anyway. Enough saying that the baptism vows of the JW's, instead of making someone a Christian, instead they imply a "dedication" to Jehovah. That should suffice to prove that the Jehovah's Witnesses are about Jehovah, and not Christ.

That would only be useful if there were any objective value in the magazine referring to Jesus (or any alternative name) any particular number of times.
The somewhat sinister claim was that the magazine had gradually reduced the number of references to Jesus. The claim was a lie.
JW beliefs would not suddenly be 'true' or even 'better' if the magazine simply started referring to Jesus more or meeting some quota for particular words.

Jeffro, the world has far too many conspiracy theorists ... It's a waste of time, but at least he should have gone with a more accurate methodology.

Absolutely!
