    I so enjoy you guys....

Jeffro: It's black and silver and yes, I had to redecorate my room around the color. Btw, I work as an IT Project Manager and I design applications for an agency that serves a population of 2+ million using Windows based platforms. I've had my iMac for 3 years and have never had a virus. It takes 37 seconds to go from a cold boot (off) to an internet connected site. At work, a network administrator protects us from the vulnerabilities of the Windows based challenges. I think I can make a pot of coffee while waiting to get to my internet connection on my brand new laptop... did I mention it's a gaming configured laptop (Dell-Alienware M18X)? I may know a little something about each platform.

Btw, I bought it to challenge myself after my PC committed suicide so I'd know something about BOTH environments. I wouldn't want to be accused of basing my opinion on what I heard about the other environment or anything... how silly would THAT be? *grin*

It obviously won't find publications that simply aren't on the disc . I'm going to assume you meant 19 50. There are no issues of The Watchtower prior to 1950 and no issues of Awake! prior to 1970 on the Watchtower Library CD.

Now THAT was an eye opener for my friend! He was troubled by the fact that the rest of the world had access to older publications and the JWs didn't. :) LOVED that. This is why I'm concerned that I'm confusing his not being able to find an article because of a date issue and possibly not a data inconsistency. Still looking....

And as to what JWs think or feel when you talk to them - I don't know. They stop talking to me after I start asking questions... despite what the first few pages of that little yellow book they make me read says about asking questions...

It gets worse: publications only go back ten years on JW.Org.

It's telling when the WT deliberately makes less of its own publications available to its members.

The amount of Scriptures quoted from the OT in relationship to the ones quoted from the NT is very telling of that. We are much more 'Jehovists' than 'Christians'.

I can see that now.... I admire the the JWs knowledge of OT scriptures and stories. My knowledge of the OT is admittedly lacking.

In my world, practices and lines of thinking are based in large part on the NT scriptures. The NT opened up the promise of salvation of the Abrahamic God to those who were not of the Jewish faith. In short, the OT reflects accounts of the power of God and the NT helps with an understanding of what is going to be on the final exam. There's my synopsis - from start to finish. :)

Anddontcallmeshirley has got a point, JWs talk about Jesus but there appreciation seems to be as him only being the one who was sacrificed, everything else including who sent him centers around Jehovah. And if you do mention the name Jesus to much, witnesses do start looking at you all funny. What a weird cult.

You know, the WTS emphasizes Jehovah and I came out of that system. I don't really mind that reference. Jehovah forces everybody to bow down to Jesus, but then Jesus bows down to Jehovah. Jesus is into Jehovah.

But maybe the WTS thinks they can skip over Jesus to get to Jehovah. Not going to happen. Jehovah forces them to recognize Jesus. You can't get in except through the door God has provided, which is Jesus.

    No, really! Numbers don’t lie.

Reference to our Lord Jesus Christ in WT literature has been on the wane for a really long time. The Yearbook of Jehovah’s Witnesses, as an example, which is printed annually to report on the ‘Christian’ ministry of the JW’s worldwide reflects a gigantic deficit on the emphasis placed on Jesus as opposed to Jehovah:

    Jehovah Jesus

    2012-2010 871 53

    2009-2000 3,456 180

    1999-1990 3,385 217

    1989-1980 2,819 234

    1979-1970 5,160 581

    Totals 15,691 1,265

    JW GoneBad:

    No, really! Numbers don’t lie.

Since the 70s, they've reduced the number of references to both Jehovah and Jesus in the 'Yearbooks'.

What your chart actually demonstrates is the general reduction in content in JW publications.

Also, the search engine picks up "Jehovah's" when searching for Jehovah. So of course the literature of Jehovah's Witnesses is going to have more references to Jehovah than Jesus.

Nothing to see here. Move along please.
