Tammy,
Look up the definition of Jew in any dictionary. Your friendship with someone shows. Also, ask a Jew what the meaning of a Jew is.
I just saw the "only two tribes" comment, above. I take it BOTR, when you speak of a friendship that Tammy has in this instance, it's not Jesus?
Weeeird. According to Tammy/Tec, only descendants of Benjamin and Judah are Jews?
To learn truth, I can pick up a science textbook. Wouldn't it be closer to say, "speak wisdom"?
No, not at all. A science textbook is going to change, as newer evidence/discoveries/etc are uncovered.
Truth does not change.
So if one wants to learn and speak truth... then one might want to learn from the One who IS the Truth.
It sounds as though you are a Witness who does not want control from a central authority.
I am a witness, to Christ... and He is my authority.
Merely claiming that Christ speaks to you is not much distinction.IMO.
Distinction from... a jehovahs witness you mean? LOL, I think that is probably a pretty big distinction. Being frightened of hearing Christ, who is alive and does speak.... thinking that this might be demonic... is more jw, imo.
Or are you referring just to the lack of the trinity belief? Well, like I said... no reason to embrace that except that men have embraced it as their tradition. No reason to believe Christ is the arkangel Michael either... even less reason perhaps. So I never believed that one either.
I believe in a very different Christ.
Many people believe in very different versions of Christ.
But there is only one Christ.
He is alive.
He is with us, as He said He would be. Not in some 'metaphorical or poetic' manner... like through the bible or through men or doctrines or religion... but truly here with us, as the Spirit. Just as He was with those who are written about in the NT, after his death and resurrection.
If one is goiing to be Christian, I say embrace Christ.
I agree.
Follow what the early Chritians did.
No.
Follow Christ.
Follow His teachings, and do as He taught/teaches. Otherwise you may be one of those who follows Cephas, or Appolos, or Paul... (as the early Christians were doing at some point)... but not Christ. Hence, the divisions.
Adopting a Witness understanding makes no sense. One might as well be a Witness.
Sure, but saying that someone has adopted a witness understanding, without pointing out what that understanding IS... and then showing what is the truth instead... doesn't really add anything to the discussion, does it?
A Jew is descended of Judah and Benjamin. The Samaritans were descended of the ten tribe Kingdom, but were also Israel. (animosity between the Jews and the Samaritans is a carry-over from the animosity between the two tribe kingdom and the ten tribe kingdom)
Even modern Israel... those who claim (and can provide some kind of evidence) of having been descended from any of the other tribes... can also gain citizenship. No doubt that the Jewish people are the modern visible face of Israel, and certainly is is common to refer to anyone of Israel as Jewish... but while the ten tribes may be 'lost' to men for the most part... they are not lost to God. He knows who is who, and from what tribe.
The etimology of the word Jew is from Judah.

tammy
And yet another clone of a thousand previous conversations that end up as..
Christ, me, come, me, truth, me, listen, me ZZZzzzzzzzzz
Cofty,
I keep trying to flesh it out. Perhaps I should stop. Sorry.
Imagine trying to write a piece for Vanity Fair concerning Tammy's belief. Succint. I hear voices. My version of Jews is different from a standard dictionary.
I wonder if there is any belief besides voices. We don't even get to hear what the voices say! Talk about whetting someone's appetitite...........
Tammy, I can't figure you out.
I don't really have anything new to say to you, Michelle. Just wondering about your answers to the questions that I asked you.
Except a comment on this:
You said:"It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the Truth(in Christ, who IS the Truth), just as the Father commanded us."...yes words in brackets are yours...and your added words can change what the message is trying to convey. For instance, perhaps these people were meeting regulary, praying together, donating their money, taking turns hosting traveling preachers, reproving false teachers etc...that could very well be the meaning of walking in truth in this letter but you assign the capital letter T and your own meaning and voila...you've succeeded in removing all the things walking in truth could mean and replace it with walking in Christ which means to you walking in love...without defining what God means by walking in love...1 john 2-3-6 again "the truth" is not capitalised.
Do you really think there is some other truth that John would be happy to see people walking in? There is ONE Truth... Christ... we are to walk in/remain in... Him. (the word truth is neither capitalized nor non-capitalized... originally) The wts also uses being in the truth/walking in the truth... to describe themselves. So it can mean anything at all to some people. But being IN the Truth... means... being IN Christ. Walking IN the Truth.. means... walking IN Christ. Walking in Christ... remaining in Christ... means just that to me. Walking and remaining in Christ. Someone who does not know Him does not walk IN Him... but they might still walk in love... and so be known BY Him, at the time that He is separating sheep from goats... or at the time of the second resurrection, when men are judged by the deeds as recorded in their books. Peace, tammy
Jgnat said- Weeeird. According to Tammy/Tec, only descendants of Benjamin and Judah are Jews?
Odd, isn't it?
Most Xians aren't aware that there was both a Southern Kingdom of Judea, and a Northern Kingdom of Israel, which existed only as a United Monarchy for about 100 years (1030-930 BC):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Monarchy
Part of the Jewish Messianic prophecies was the promised messiah would locate and gather up the 10 lost tribes (who had been scattered via Assyrian conquest and disapora) to reestablish the United Kingdom here on Earth:
Then Jesus said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matthew 15:24).
Of course, today the term "Jew" is not limited to those who descended from the two southern tribes (which is wholly unknowable anyway, since what remained of geneological records were destroyed in 70CE), but to anyone who claims Jewish ancestry.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_is_a_Jew%3F
It's insulting for a non-Jew to speak as if they're in any position to have any say whatsoever on the matter on who is or isn't "a Jew", but that's the kind of arrogance that Xianity emboldens in some people....
Adam
Tammy, I can't figure you out.
Maybe that is because I am not the one that matters.
Listen to Christ.
Peace,
tammy
BOTR - If I was writing about Tammy's beliefs I would use the metaphor of a magic carpet that takes her anywhere she wishes to go, free of normal contraints like evidence, reason and logic.
It must be wonderful.
You are a science fiction fanatic aren't you Tammy?
You speak well, Tec. I tip my hat to you.
