I have done nothing wrong by pointing out Billythekid46's lies.

There hasn't actually been any recent 'new light' about 1914. This has already been answered early in the thread by myself and others.

The 'new light' most likely alluded to is more about 1918-1919.

Russell did not proclaim that 1914 was the end of the world or Armageddon as some of you foolishly indicate ...

Oh dear. billy, you're looking like an idiot. Have you even looked at his Studies in the Scriptures? I'm guessing 'no.'

Is it just me, or is this "billythekids" 8th or 10th incarnation on this board?

    The style seems familiar.

The thought occurred to me as well, sir82.

I am always amazed when people who defend the WTBTS, also completely ignore moral issues. Then they use ad hominem attacks. It's like I am reading the Conti transcripts...

Just fyi for lurkers, ALWAYS bring up moral issues if you want to cut to the chase. You can't cut-and-paste, or reason your way out of a moral question. It's why the WTBTS lost the Conti case. Moral questions expose the hearts of legalistic people. You know, the ones who will try to cover over wrongdoing by saying it's legal. They don't care about ethics or morals, despite their claims. If you want to draw someone out, use a question or an illustration that requires an honest moral response.

The bible does not comment on every facet of life or answer every question. So as result there are many different views, some more confusing than others. I agree with Billythekid's comment about research becoming confusing. It can drive you nuts. I don't even worry about chronology so much, because it makes my head hurt. What i do worry about is the track record of religious institutions. When I see them in court defending child molesters, that tells me something about the real moral fiber of the leadership.

Just read the older literature for yourself. Go to jwfacts.com and read what was actually taught by the WTBTS. Then ask yourself why they would ever be less than 100% honest about their past. Ask yourself why they would persecute members of their own faith who bring up legitimate problems, even when it is done in a respectful manner?

    Skeptical78,

Imagine you are a kitten. You see a little string of yarn that is out of place so you bat at it. Soon, you find yourself wrapped up tight and tied down in a big mess of yarn that is much more than you expected because all you saw was that small tiny end of the string you wanted to pull.

This is your situation with the JWs. By pulling on this small string you are seeing, the "new light" topic you came here to ask about, you are about to deluged with much more than you realize.

Be strong, keep learning and keep using that wonderful brain of yours. You are on the right path because you're asking questions and thinking about the big picture. Good on you!

    Skeptical78,

    About the July 15th Watchtower…

    Before “new light”:

The view was that Jesus had appointed a Faithful Slave in 33 CE, and that they were the anointed on earth at any given time. In 1919, Jesus appointed this Slave over all his belongings. Domestics were the anointed as individuals, fed by the composite body of anointed, ie the Slave. Other sheep were among the belongings. The Governing Body and the Watchtower were said to merely represent this body of anointed. The Evil Slave were “Apostates”. Some of the anointed might be on earth after Armageddon.

    After the “new light”:

Jesus appointed the Faithful Slave in 1919 CE to be the God’s sole channel of dispensing spiritual food. Before that, not Russell, not even the Apostles, were said to be the Faithful Slave. The Faithful Slave is said to be only the leaders of the Watchtower, who today are the Governing Body. The anointed and the other sheep are now the domestics. During the Great Tribulation, all the anointed on earth go to heaven with Jesus (they don’t use the word rapture but that is strongly implied), along with the Faithful Slave, and at that time, Jesus appoints the Faithful Slave over all his belongings along with the rest of the 144000. Now, they say, there is no Evil slave, that is hypothetical.

It amazes me the feeble minded will someday run this world with your doctrine, or perhaps it already started. Am I defending the WT as some of you put it? No but if I’m to believe and pick someone’s theory I would have to pick theirs. Lets face it, like *AnnoMaly* inferred about me being an idiot. Perhaps this person should go back to a theological university to find out that person’s venom means absolutely nothing to me, with an endearing mention to go back an actually understand the scripture rather than just reading it, and laugh at the distorted reasoning like *Jeffro* feeble attempts of indoctrination. But God gives us all a choice to choose whatever lies and false hope people gives us. They have the choice to abandon God and his truth within the bible as you people have. As stated before what makes your lies, false hopes, and your truth anymore tangible? The hypocrisy spoken here makes it easier to become an atheist rather than seek god. Enjoy your distorted lives!!!!!!
