  I resorted to no falsehood. A few atheists here ruin the reputation of all atheists. A few atheists lump all believers as fundamentalists who are against science. Nothing is further from the truth. There are no references that Cofty uses, Well, I was already bullied in my life by the WT. He was not so rude and impossible in the past.

  I assume everyne here is a competent adult. Let Cofty worry abut Cofty. As a poli sci major, I know for a fact that is converting no one. No respect is shown for anyone with a divergent view. He strikes me as no intellect.

  If words on a screen from someone you don't know on a forum you willingly visit that you recently said you were quitting are what is ruining your life, you have bigger issues that Cofty.

  Okay here is what I want to add to this topic Hortensia

  If an individual uses science or evidence from science to say what is true then he/she has entered the realm of belief. I have no problem with this but at least admit that they are in the realm of belief - my science text book makes this distinction quite clear (Simon Green et al). It clearly says that when a scientist says something like 'this theory is true' then he is saying what he believes and what he believes is not part of the scientific method but a statement of his beliefs (okay yes based on scientific evidence as far as possible but in physics where evidence is hard to come by apart from the mathematics it is easy to see why beliefs creep in and why it is important to be open about our lack of knowledge). I see that Dawkins argues vehemently against what my science text book says about making truth statements in his book The God Delusion. Fair enough but I will take what Dawkins says in this book as part science part what he believes and only then enjoy his awareness raising endeavours.

  BTOR and Cofty,

  You have both been on the board much longer than me and I have found that both of you have been really supportive during my exit and whilst dealing with difficult circumstances. As I am isolated I love to come here and chat. I don't mind being challenged by cofty as his motive is to help me.

  There are some other posters both believers and atheists who are not free from their JW "I am right and you are wrong attitude" Generally they are new to the board and suffering personality flaws due to being in a cult. These types of posters think they are cured from the damage the cult has done and in fact do more harm.

  I don't think there are more atheists on the board at all, I get PMs from believers a lot, I just think a lot of posters don't enter into Atheist vs God debates. I like the debates, they keep me busy and pass the time. I also want to help lurkers who are confused about their beliefs, most threads are viewed by more than actually post. These threads helped me find my way. I only left WT a few months ago so I am still on my journey building my life, and learning how to interact socially again.

  BTOR and Cofty, carry on with your posts you are both doing a good job to help ex JWs in very different ways. Thank you both of you.

  I am a believer. Yes, a believer, the scum of the earth according to certain atheists. I have never done any horrific act. These generalizations are patently untrue. My belief has led me to social justice. I strive to be honorable in my dealings. Atheists, such as Lenin, Mao, Stalin are no reasn for atheists to be proud. People are human.

  According to who? When? What was said? You claim to want justice and at the same time throw out wild accusations. Let's see the proof where you were called scum of the earth. You say you strive to be honorable yet are resorting to wild hyperbole and and a few definite falshoods.

  She's probably referring to the statements that have been made about religion being the cause of all sorts of morally awful acts. It may be true that nobody on this forum is specifically calling anyone else "scum", but by painting all religion as bad, it naturally tends to label religious forum members in an insulting way.
