I'm trying to compare the different protests and draw reasonable conclusions as to the nature of the muslim world.-LUHE

Well that's a good place to start. The Muslim world is filled with individuals from all around the world with different backgrounds and cultures. Some are converts. The Muslim world also has dangerously radical individuals who incite violence and use the Koran as their authority. We cannot generalise about the Muslim world, just like they cannot generalise about us.

In as far as anti-semitism is concerned, everytime I have told a Muslim that I am Jewish it has made no difference to their attitude towards me and have alway been treated with respect. I have been mistreated by non-Muslims for being Jewish.

I think some people are in complete denial if they imagine Islamic attitudes and treatment of women can't be clearly condemned and said to be worse than other much milder treatment in other religions which people are happy to criticise.

I don't see your point AlphaMan?????????????????????

You have got to be kidding me right?

I and others have posted outright verses from the Koran on how non-Musims shoud be dealt with, and you post a few obscure verses from the Koran mentioning peace (to other Muslims) when it doesn't even say peace to non-believers.

You really don't get Islam do you?

Are the proportions the same? Is the number and distribution of radicals the same in islam as other religions?

Why do we need this charade that islam is the same as other religions when it clearly is not.

Just a reminder: criticising islam does not make anyone a racist or a biggot, it just means you are critical of a religious indoctrination. I remember when that was a good thing.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel

Nice attempt Berengaria but this has been covered already - the OT incidents were specific cases and not general ongoing commands and noone really follows the OT anymore.

Was that a command to hang people forever more? Not quite the same thing is it?

Christianity fixed it's issues by deftly declaring certain parts of the word of god "out of date" and that's what islam needs to do with the Quran - not clinging to every piece of it.

No....under Muslim law, being critical of Islam makes you subject to death!

    Question :

Does Islam command that those who insult the religion should be put to death?

    Summary Answer :

Under Sharia, those who insult Muhammad or Allah are to be put to death. So are those who desecrate the Qur'an, or commit other acts of blasphemy. This tradition began with Muhammad, as recorded in the Hadith and by his biographers. There is also a Qur'anic basis for it.

    The Qur'an:

Qur'an (6:93) - "Who can be more wicked than one who inventeth a lie against Allah?" If the death penalty is prescribed for lesser crime, then it stands to reason that it should be imposed for the most "wicked".

Qur'an (33:57) - "Lo! those who malign Allah and His messenger, Allah hath cursed them in this world and the Hereafter, and hath prepared for them the doom of the disdained"

Qur'an (33:61) - [continues from above] "Accursed, they will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter."

Exactly. As is the Q 8:12 that is quoted above. It's out of context, and applies to a specific event.

So AlphaMan, you pose a question (accusation) and then answer it by quoting an anti-islam website?? How is that an honest debate?

So any presence tense Koran verse to kill non-Muslims is out of context, and we only need to guote pro-Muslim websites for honest debate? You are the most ridiculous Muslim sympathizer of them all.
