Wiping them out makes us worse than them, and worse solves nothing. They come from a part of the world where there is no one allowed to question what they believe. Even in our parts of the world, it is still taboo to question someone on their beliefs. Until that changes, we can expect religious fanaticism to continue. We need to remove the taboos around people's beliefs. You have the right to hold absurd beliefs, and I should have the right to question you on them and even criticize you for them. I freely allow myself to be criticized for my beliefs, and do not expect everyone to respect them.
On another note, consider this. The majority of IS supporters are in iraq and syria, with the front lines of the fight being right in Kobane. Most of the residents of Kobane have fled to Turkey, so civilian casualties will be relatively low. I say let them in! Allow IS to stock up their troops. Gather them all together, cut off their supply lines and funding. Then send in ground troops to hit them hard. While they are well funded and have large munitions (possibly even fighter jets), they are still a bunch of desert dwelling hillbillies for the most part. Happy to die for their cause. They won't stop until they are dead, so why not grant them their wish? I'm not saying wipe out all Muslims, but sweep the board of IS. Make extremism untenable.

For a number of months MANY western & NATO countries were happy to allow fundy Islamists to leave and join ISIS. I wonder if the delay in taking action was an attempt to identify and gather in one place hidden radicals. If ISIS gathers in one area without civilians a few fuel-air bombs will be dropped no doubt..out of media view.

And yet remember - we mustn't believe that the quran and islam is in any way connected to any of the attrocities they commit. They will have "lied on the internet" added to the list of attrocities they have comitted.
