I think that is an excellent thought and thus a perfect way to end the topic!...

In the West, it's often assumed that Muslims generally condone terrorism. Some on the right think this because they view Muslim culture as inherently violent, and some on the left imagine this because they view Muslim violence, fundamentalist violence, solely as a product of legitimate grievances. But both views are dead wrong. In fact, many people of Muslim heritage around the world are staunch opponents both of fundamentalism and of terrorism, and often for very good reason. You see, they're much more likely to be victims of this violence than its perpetrators. Let me just give you one example. According to a 2009 survey of Arabic language media resources, between 2004 and 2008, no more than 15 percent of al Qaeda's victims were Westerners. That's a terrible toll, but the vast majority were people of Muslim heritage, killed by Muslim fundamentalists.Natana J Delong Bas

jgnat - It is of course true that muslims suffer more from muslim violence than any other group.
The solution will have to come from within Islam. Muslims will need to find a way to reclaim their religion.
There needs to be a groundswell of protest from ordinary Muslims rejecting the violence and misogyny that permeates their quran and hadith.
So far there is a whisper at most.

Keep in mind, a whisper in Western press.

...meanwhile, back at the ranch...after 70 pages and heading towards thirty thousand posts...ISIS is doing fine and gaining ground, slipping and sliding in blood and despotism.
You apologists are totally irrelevent and really rather odd in your inability to distinguish right from wrong. Most of you don't seem to have any trouble seeing the negative impact of the Watchtower society on good people's lives and have no hesitation to speak out here on that subject..

What? I believe ISIS needs to be contained. I just so happen not to condemn all of Islam for those despicable extremists.
I also don't condemn all of Christendom for the abuses of some religious side-notes, like the Jehovah's Witnesses.
But I am DONE with this thread. Too much confirmation bias, too little information.

Since when do we pick and choose which JW's to condemn?
Don't blame you for bailing, jgnat.
Defending Islam is a tough job these days.

Rational people don't blanket condemn every singular individual for actions of other individuals. No, I don't "condemn every Jehovah's Witness"; that's psychotic.

I do, but I don't condemn all Muslims.
The book is the problem.

"The book is the problem."
bears repeating.
I recall a circuit overseer telling the congregation that if they were irregular publishers (less than 10 hrs per month) they were NOT JW's.
All this "moderate muslim" crap is just an excuse for the apologists not to condemn to whole rotten shebang. There is real fear being brought to bear on the Islamic "moderates".
