I am not defending any ideology at all - if you read my posts you see that I am a strong opponent of Fanaticism, take issue with Muslim intolerance of non-Muslims and barbaric traditonal practices and attitudes justifiede in the name of Islam. I am counselling tolerance and distinguishing between Fanatics and the rest. To call for all Muslims to be wiped out because of the actions of ISIS is nothing short of promoting genocide.   Frazzled: do you honestly and truly believe that comment meant he believes we should actually wipe out all 1.6 billion muslims or isn't it more likely in context with the preceeding comments about the attrocities being committed by those particular muslims who, incidentally, don't put any clauses on their demands to wipe out all non believers.

  Put your big girl pants on and debate the issue, not obviously misplaced words.

  No one is calling for the genocide of all muslims. The only ones trying to kill even large groups of muslims right now are muslims.

  Simon - if you look at the post he talks about Moderate Muslims and then talks about Islam and then talksa bout wiping them out - on a plain reading of the words he uses he is promoting genocide of 1.6 million Muslims but you give him the benefit of the doubt? I have given up trying to debate on this thread -- the pattern of using selective literalism to work each other up into a lather of outrage against Islam and the so-called liberals who have the temerity to challenge your assumptions, was set long ago - it is nothing but a lowest common denominator lynch mob. mana11's comment sums it up really.   It really just needs a simple response:

  "are you really advocating the killing of all 1.6 billion muslims?"

  See how simple and effective that is?

  Multiple demands to know "if I'm going to allow that to be posted" isn't helping any discussion. Of course people only see things from their side of an argument and never notice posts that do violate the guidelines and are removed.

  Many comments have been allowed on this thread, including dumb ones from both sides.

  If islam was truly a peaceful religion I think people wouldn't have too much difficulty showing how the extremist forms were not connected to it's teachings other than by a bizzarre interpretation.

  The fact that you and other have been totally unable to do this and want to make the conversation about colonial pasts or debate against a extreme position that no one is suggesting (e.g. "all muslims are terrorists") really highlights to me that islam does actually contain those teachings as claimed.

  Even without any 'extremist terrorism' islam is still a vile ideology used to subjugate and harm many people around the planet. Wel all know it, we can all see it - there is a litany of human rights abuses for all to see. And yet some feel the need to try and earn a gold star by trying to defend and excuse it.

  An American convert to Islam beheaded a former colleague in Moore, Oklahoma. US law enforcement officials are not calling it terrorism.

  Alton Nolen, 30, who adopted the name Jah’Keem Yisrael since converting to Islam in 2011, decapitated 54-year-old Colleen Hufford on Thursday at the Vaughn Food processing plant – his former workplace – in Moore, Oklahoma.

  Nolen had just been fired when he drove to the business, hit a vehicle and walked inside, reports say. He proceeded to the front office area, stabbed Hufford several times with a knife and severed her head.

  According to several news reports, Nolen then encountered 43-year-old Traci Johnson and began attacking her with the same knife.

  The FBI is investigating whether Nolen’s faith could be linked to the murder. Several sources indicate that radical Islam was a driving force in Nolen’s life.

  If a large group of people wanted to have a religious ideology where they wanted to worship Adolph Hitler as God's Prophet, and use his book Mein Kamp as their holy book, and hate and want to wipe out all Jews and have world domination over everyone based on Hitler ideology.....the Liberals would be up in arms speaking out against them. (maybe...the Liberals have gone so bat-shit crazy in their thinking that they might even defend Nazism as freedom of religion now)

  What is the different with Islam? Islam has the Prophet Muhammad who wrote a holy book full of hate and promoting the killing of all Jews and people everywhere who will not convert to Islam. The agenda of Muhammad and Islam is the exact same agenda. World domination where only that particular agenda and ideology is allowed.
