" It's like having a defense for murder as "well someone else killed someone once so you can't possibly convict me!""

STUPID STATEMENT. Most lawyers use similar cases that happened in the past and the end result as a precedent or framework for a current one. SO sorry but your illustration was not well thought out.

" And repeatedly pointing to other misdeeds by other nations in centuries past is a rediculously weak argument and it's DONE confusedandalone - now it's simply off-topic."

Yet people are pointing out past issues of Muslims as a framework for imprisoning them all and having them deported.

"I think there are no so stupid as those who go to great lengths to wilfully misunderstand an argument or point."

Like how moronic it is that someone would suggest that we ignore the fact that freedom religion is woven into the fabric of the USA and then suggest jailing all muslims and deporting them from the country???? Is that what you mean

Duh, it was an illustration. The full illustration would include "got away without being caught". That doesn't set precedent as you know.

If by past you mean "happend in the last few days" they yes, I guess 'past' - everything that has happened always happened in the past by definition. You are harping on about things from hundreds or thousands of years ago. Hardly the same thing.

confusedandalone: you seem to be determined that whatever happens anywhere in the world, it's because of European (white?) people. I don't know the figures but does Islam gain a lot of traction in black communities? Is that the source of your objections - that you are taking this as a race issue rather than as a complaint about the practices of a religion?

Awww, come on confusedandalone, we're grownups - life's not fair.

As for muslims having to endure a forced reformation, how tragic, well bless their cotton socks!

'Islam is their life' - agreed, and perhaps those mocking their beliefs might want to tone it down a bit, it certainly could be counter-productive.

So because your illustration was not specific it is lacking and your point not proven.

" You are harping on about things from hundreds or thousands of years ago. "

30-60 years ago is hundreds of years in the past? You are bad with numbers.

" European (white?) people." SOOOOO Simon we get to what you are supposing is the root of my issue. By stating "(white?)". I said European and did not designate a color. Very telling on your part though. There are lots of black Muslims, but not in my community. There are lots of white Muslims as well? My great great great great grandparents were "Hausa" from Cameroon so they were Muslim. There are lots of Asian Muslims as well. SO Islam gains traction everywhere.

You know how easy it is to draw people to your side by suggesting that Black people are making things about race. Fox News tactics work very well with Christians and you know this so employ it. Does not change the fact that what I said was true.

More importantlywether you want to discriminate based upon religion or color it is still wrong. I have been harping on the fact that most people here are asking for something that is completely deplorable... to discriminate based upon someones religion. Playing with words and definitions is what people do when they realized they made a huge sweeping statement that was packed full of bias and ignorance. Then try to back pedal and put a nice twist on the hateful garbage original spewed in the beginning.

Is it possible that you "Simon" can admit that what you said was not well thought out and you could have possibly said something in another fashion to get your point across?

No one is saying that all people currently claiming to be Muslims should be locked up, deported, killed etc...

    .

Exactly. No one has said anything like this about all Muslims in the U.S. Only the radical violent element that does want the U.S. and other nations to be violently overthrown by Islam, or the ones commiting or plotting violence & crimes against people because they are not Muslim. If they are saying, planning or doing these things, then of course they should be locked up, deported, and in some cases put to death.

It's the typical liberal brigade response to think that people who speak out against Islam want to paint everyone who is Muslim with the same brush. It's always about the the criminal's rights, and never for the victims or protection of law abiding citizens. Thousands have already been killed here in America by radical Islam. This country and all airports are always on a high state of alert because of radical Islam. The biggest security fear of the U.S. government officals right now is Islamic terrorists denotating a nuclear device in a large U.S. city. You think the Muslim terrorists care about the nice moderate educated Muslims that would live in that city? Hell no! In their eyes all this is their god Allah's will. Can you really sit there and defend any Muslim with that ideology?

confusedandalone: I'm trying to figure out why you seem so determined to excuse misdeeds in the present simply by pointing to misdeeds of the past. It seems like a very strange position to hold. I guess in 30-60 years time we can look forward to you condemning ISIS eh?

"excuse misdeeds in the present "

    Something I never did.

I find it amazing that you easily will writeoff misdeeds of the past as having no bearing on situations in the present.

I find it also amazing now people change thier stance on jailing and deporting people when for the majority of the thread.

I also would like to ask you to take this views to the face of a Muslim and spout them of with such vigor. Yes I would pay for you to go to the face of any Muslim on the street and say, "Hey, I would like to see a law passed that you and your family are deported or put in jail based on your religious beliefs."

Where have I done that? I have been very critical of unecessary and ill conceived action taken by the west, particularly the US led invasion of Iraq which started the immediate issues (preceeded by arming of anti-Russian rebels, aka Al Queda).

    Was that a sentence?

Why should I? They may be one of the crazy beheady-ones.

I have followed this topic with interest but it sickens me to hear people excusing and justifying Islamists.

    Have you learned nothing?

The whole religion was founded on hatred, a reactionary political idealism in opposition to Christians and Jews.

Honestly, I despair to read some of the comments on here. Its that kind of thinking that has allowed Islam to last as long as it has.

Don't argue against common sense, do your homework and read the Koran.

If nothing else comes of this whole affair, it will at least put things in to perspective for a lot of us and will hopefully make us appreciate our own Western society a whole lot more.

'Never argue with ignorant people about stupid things for they will always drag you down to their level and win by experience'.

And for that reason, I firmly rest my case...
