@lisaBObeesa - the problem with making distinctions between 'radical muslim communities' and 'moderate muslim communities' is that this may not reflect reality. Radical muslims worship at the same mosques and read from the same qurans as moderates do.

Perhaps it might be better to visualise a spectrum, with radicals occupying one end, cultural muslims occupying the other end and all sorts occupying various positions in the middle.

cofty do you agree with the fact all MUSLIMS should be deported or put in jail as mentioned earlier, or do you think only radical Muslims should be.

No I don't agree. Did anybody seriously suggest that?

However I do think that it is silly to talk about "moderate muslims". I think such a person is exceedingly rare.

You are judging "moderate" by a strange standard.

Lisa - you can't compare Islam with Christianity. It is no problem for a christian to reject biblical inspiration and condemn the Iron Age morals of the book. A Muslim can't do that. Please show me the website or YouTube channel of a practising Muslim who will publicly declare Mo to be wrong about his attitude to women or homosexuals.

Of course we all want to see a new brand of liberal Islam but those few voices within Islam who call for it do not attract followers - apart from those who wish to do them harm.

Maybe in a few decades or centuries the majority of Muslims will be as moderate as an aging Anglican but until that happens there should be no compromise in protecting our western values.

"It's my religion/culture" is not an excuse for bad behaviour.

Secular laws are extremely effective at modifying extremism when applied to the universal language (money). Mormonism rapidly had revelations regarding polygamy and racism when threatened with a loss of property and assets. Fluffy mormonism is less radical now.

All manner of pious assertions become oddly changeable when society defines the acceptable boundaries and financial punishments.

@cofty - The first few pages and many statements thereafter were calls for Muslims in this country to all be shipped to islands/put in FEMA camps / Make it illegal to be a one. Let us not forget the massive insults that they are illiterate etc...

I do not think there should be a compromise in western values. Protecting people in the USA from radicals is paramount. However the cries for people professing to be of a particular religion should be rounded up and deported or put in jail is deplorable.

confused - When people make ridiculous assertions like that don't waste energy arguing about it.

However there are serious issues regarding the dangers of Islam that do deserve to be debated. I suggested above that there is no such thing as a "moderate" Muslim - or at least they are very rare.

    Do you agree?

    .

You speak untruth Confused. My statement about FEMA camps were for any Muslim in this country who expressed commiting extremist acts, or made extremists statements against this country or it's citizens. It's called rounding up potential terrorists. Here is the quote below. The Muslim sister of the Boston Marathon bomber landed herself in court for making threats against someone by saying she knows people who could bomb the person.

If you must round them up, then start rounding up any of them that has expressed any extremist ideas or statements, and put their asses in the FEMA camps.

I just read the last four pages, and when I hit the Fox News is good coverage and fair then I realised I give up.

I was arguing with the sort of people who watch fox news,

the rest if the world, that's everyone who isn't American basicly, regards Fox News as a joke, an absolute travesty of the concept.

    I don't watch FOX.

What does a "moderate Muslim" sound like?

I have no choice but to speak out when people make these crazy assertions. Because there are unfortunately alot of peopel here who will pass this stuff on to someone else as if it is a feasible alternative. One thing I can say about a loarge portion of the US is that they are not thinking people. There is an extreme herd mentality and if someone says somethign that catches steam many run behind it without thinking what they are actually doing.

In regards to moderate muslim, if we first define what a moderate muslim is it may be easier to answer. However I can say I have lived in parts of New York and New Jersey. Large number of Muslims in both areas. There were what I would consider based on my understanding a large number of moderate Muslims. Some were very good friends. I studied *shiver* with some in my late teens and they were very welcoming of me and calmly discussed thier beliefs and mine. No yelling of infidel etc... The most extreme thing I did witness was constant prayer at times that was annoying.

I lived in NY during September 11 and many Muslims were the first to speak of how despicable the actions that took place were. The sheer number of Muslims who came out and assisted in relief efforts was amazing. I honestly believe there are a large number of Moderate Muslims in the West and there are many in the Mid-East.

Travelling for work and pleasure I have been to Indonesia and Turkey both of which are Muslim nations and I never had the feeling that I was going to be beheaded or experience any form of violence. Woemn have all the same rights as men as well. However I have been to Morocco and treated like complete garbage and refused room and board at multiple hotels due to skin color. There was no where for me to eat. That was awful. I will never go to Saudi Arabia because there Wahabbi standards would certainly land me in a situation where I would probably be enslaved or killed.

Ultimately I can see a number of changes have taken place and given time I am sure more will. Enforcing change on these people is not going to work

I would suggest you pull your head out, and quit watching that liberal news channel that's up your ass. A 54 y.o. grandmother in OK, USA just trying to make a living in a food processing plant got her head hacked off by a Muslim. The religion has violent deadly anti-Western society values & ideology and is a disease on humanity.
