Sooner- Learn some new ideas from countries that have addressed ther social and economic issues with some degrees of success. These 'Nordic Smordic' countries all began a great change after WWII and it has proven itself. Leaning towards aspects of Socialism worked. Education, Healthcare, in general putting the people and the environment first. Norway's Treasury surplus has over $1,000,000.00 per person.
Is a big swath of America to stubborn to learn.
The Protesters nationwide will go back to their schools and jobs but if the underlying problems persist they will march again. Maybe city councils across the country will start having the necessary conversations to address their local issues. Important issues- What are the consequences when school budgets are cut.

Love- there are on average 44 homicides per day in the US, 5.2 per 100,000. Some countries with high gun ownership don't have our homicide rate, lower and higher what makes the difference, and what can we learn from the more successful countries.
Sweden is closing prisons, California built 25 new prisons and just 1 university in the past few years.
Love- to partially answer your question about the 14 teens killed, one teenager, Vonderitt Myers Jr. shot at an Officer 3 times with a 9mm. The Officer returned fire and killed Myers.
Ok designs, thank you.
So the slogan 'black lives don't matter' becomes reasonably accurate - not among cops but in da hood.
Well that persecption is how social issues go from bad to worse. A segment of America likes the out-of-sight-out-of-mind solution to our social problems.
-We want this valley for our city so we move the Indigenous Peoples off by any means necessary was the solution in the 1800s. We build more prisons and turn them into cheap labor businesses but cut school funding is another modern solution. Germany just waived tuition for college like Norway did. They want their young people to succeed. It sends a message. 25 new prisons vs 1 new college is the California solution.

You make a good point, designs. Waiving/cutting tuition fees for poor black people (or poor people of any colour) seems reasonable enough.
But I still feel the elephant in the room is ignored - it seems in both the US and the UK that black people are absurdly over-represented as victims and perps of violent crime. What's the deal? Is it cultural? Lack of good father figures? Is this refusing to toe the line arrogance?
I feel it's a shame the situation is as it is. Here in England, I remember reading about a little Indian girl who was shot in the head, caught in the cross-fire between rival black gang members in Brixton. Shortly after, some members of the 'black community' put a text message out entitled 'don't snitch' - absolutely disgusting.
I speak as a white guy who has known several (~20) black people as friends and work colleagues over the years. They were all nice, decent people except one, IMO.
That's why I posted the historical construct of the past 500 years and approached the subjects of cultural genocide and physical genocide. Related to that is the 'Caste system' that exists in both of our Countries. Humans are naturally, or by our evolution, aggressive. Repression, suppression, injustice etc. will all be triggers to aggressive behaviors. Your Charles Dickens wrote his insightful stories on these issues and their consequences.
Two of your other famous authors offered differing views of human nature- Golding with Lord Of The Flies, and Ballantyne's The Coral Island.
Your point about the last 500 years - slavery, historical and contemporary ill-treatment of black people - must be a factor in this and therefore is also accepted.
Speaking of Charles Dickens, I myself come from a working class background - I'm the first from my dad's side of the family to go to uni. My mum's side are on the lowest rung of middle class at best and some went to uni. However, I don't hate posh people on sight or begrudge them their life-style - it's the hand they're dealt with, they're just people with all the good points and bad points as anyone else.
Also, how far back in history is too far? At some point a line has to be drawn, no? I'm an Englishman, does that mean I should carry resentment NOW towards modern Danes for what Danish vikings did to my Saxon ancestors?
I mentioned Joe Frazier (RIP) earlier in this thread and feel the need to mention his name again. He was Gullah, geechee, from a poor background in racist South Carolina. He had every excuse/reason to hate all white people on sight and feel sorry for himself. But he took advantage of the opportunity given him as an American and through sheer determination succeeded. IMO he should be held up as a model for all disadvantaged Americans - black and white.
I keep out of these debates because they seem to end up with all kinds of fors and againsts from the sanctimonious to the humble.
Count me out of discussions about emotive things I haven't witnessed with my own mince pies.
Suffice to say I do NOT trust the system.
