I am too new here to be of any consequence. I have observed that many posters aren't really contributing too much, other than friviality. Maybe they are "dubs" afraid to reveal too much. Some posts here sound really desperate. Others are just ploys to grab attention.

People are people no matter where they are. Some are funny, some are serious. Some really need direction and help. Others need support and encouragement. Some just want to find a friend and a listening ear. That's my area here I guess. But, I also do have a sense of humor, and some of these posts here are hilarious.

If there is an absolute true mission of this Forum, I need to be informed. Otherwise, the feel I've gotten is that anyone can say just about anything, ask just about anything, and respond with just about any reaction, as long as they do it "decently".

A little bit of fluff is nice I think. It takes all kinds of folks to make the world go round. Although I was an excellent debater in school, and can usually handle myself well no matter who I'm having a conversation with, I don't intentionally try to debate anything here on this forum. What I mean is, I might have my own opinion, but I'm not going to try to discuss any issues relating to the meaning of scriptures, as I don't really believe the bible is "the word of god" anymore. So, I generally don't get into those types of discussions with people I can't "see", or anyone I really don't know.

But, as with anything in life, if you aren't getting what you need, then you have to make a choice. No one made me come here. For now, I'm happy being here. If there comes a day when I don't feel that way, then I'll be gone.

Greetings Farks. Please do tell what you consider worthy research. I just looked at the first 2 pages of threads and there were at least half by my count or a little more than half of which merited at least a look if not a response. Do you consider the threads where newbies ask questions to be unworthy? Ar they not one of the primary goals we are shooting for? If research isn't asking and answering questions then what is? I don't really care if 607 is valid, or if jesus is Dog, or if Melchizadeck had his head up Abraham's ass...but I do think lots of people here provide the impetus for the more scholarly members to create good threads. Do we not compile articles and stories and hard facts like the WT and thier little war machine? All of that stuff helps bring forth a stronger case against the WT. You know as well as I do that many times all it takes is one piece of information to change someone's entire outlook. Sixofnine told me just the other day that it was just one person's reasoning on the blood issue that he could not refute, which led him to leaving the borg. I guess part of my point is that we are lucky to have each and every person who posts here and I agree with you that democracy is a good thing. Better than a theocracy by far! Thanks for reminding us we still have work to do....and that includes you..*L*

Sentinel there is no ABSOLUTE anything. There are, IHMO, many purposes here. You have to take it on its face and also look into the reasons why people post what they post, many of which need to be here and find answers in thier own time and way.Its not easy to jump in and be an Alanf, or Farkelistic, or JanHish,.or simply Amazing, or a meta metatron. I take it however is comes ...the good the bad and the ugly.

Hmm, is there supposed to be something wrong with fluff? I'm sure people come here for all sorts of reasons. Some of you provide a lot of serious research about the Bible, the WTS and all manner of things. I don't happen to read any of the research about the Bible since I don't believe it ( the Bible) to be a particularly outstanding literary work. Give me a Hemmingway novel any day. I don't much care for trivial detail about the WTS because I've already satisfied myself that it is a fraudulent religious cult. Their doctrines are not based on scholarly research but are designed to manipulate a hapless multitude of dupes.

For you guys providing research, please carry on. While I'm not interested I'm sure hundreds of others are. I come here to be amused and entertained. Sometimes I like to be argumentative and sometimes I like to be agreeable. To those providing their JW horror stories and experiences, thank you. I do enjoy most of them. And to those who post interesting and humorous anecdotes, I enjoy them.

As far as valuable information is concerned, the UN expose and the Silent Lambs information was outstanding. But do I really care about the trinity doctrine, the cross as a Christian symbol, or the society's attitude toward gays? Not really. I guess when this forum stops furnishing me anything of interest, I'll drop it from my favorites list. Nor do I think the WTS can be rehabilitated into a nice mainstream religion or informal group of sincere Bible believers. My rejection of it is absolutely complete.

Now, where are my pills?

The wailers are batting 500? I too, have observed the expressions of distress.

A while back there were a number of posts about JW kids being whacked to tears and

terror at the back of Kingdom Halls.

Seems to me you also took part in those threads.

Like the child beaters, do we tell those beaten to tears, to shut up or they will be whacked some more.

The cries of the beaten ones are reaching clear up to heaven, as it is written somewhere.

One thing I have learned, that the cries of the babes, carry far more weight in the universe than all the endless talks from the platform and all the never ending stream of researched articles in print.

Seems to me a number of months ago, you too were on the edge of despair, gazing into the darkness of oblivion. Later you told us that Angelina and others came to your rescue.

Maybe the distressed ones could listen to a little Chopin.

I got to get back to my research article, I am trying to play my part and block the WT from making an end run with their smoke and mirrors. May be I will succeed, maybe I wont, but I will give it my best shot.

I can't say for certain from this thread whether Farkel still has a prob with fluff an stuff, However, I always had a problem understanding why he ever had a problem with fluff at all. Cause, just about all his stuff is about as close to a combination of fluff and serious research as u can get. I thought of all ppl at least he understands the value of both kinds of material.

Everyone will be happy having that option. Even happier if the user could customize ACTIVE buttons.(search)

As you can see some seriuous topics become "INACTIVE" mainly because the ACTIVE flluff makes it go out of sight.

I understand it is hard to KIS, take your time...

And who prey tell gets to decide what is or is not serious? That will never work....that's almost as bad as inviting people to the board and telling them who to watch out for. The individual is responsible for discerning what they want to read and who that want to listen to., not a board moderator or anyone else...
