Do you remember the good old days as a Witness, when everyone was expected to contribute in exactly the same way? Individual differences in talent and interests were kept to minimue usage. It seems to me that is what some expect today. Everyone should make their contribution in the same way, and if it is not in the way that you like, then the person should be castigated. As Lone Wolf pointed out Ray's work laid the cornerstone 22 years ago for what is being done today. As Englishman has pointed out, Ray's work was of immeasurable value. He has helped ten's of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people. Bill's work is very new, by comparison, and the long term effects are yet to be known. Each man has his strengths and weaknesses and neither should be condemned because they contribute in very different ways. Neither should be condemned if they choose not to contribute in the same way. Ever heard of the concept of the specialization of labor? More is accomplished if each individual makes his or her own unique contribution and stays our of areas that he or she is not good at. Of the words written here, I am in most agreement with Englishman's and Lone Wolf's, they pretty much capture my opinion on this subject.

I don't understand why the lot of you have continued any of this bullshit. Eman, you keep bringing up this topic, among others, that leads to mentioning cross board postings which are totally meaningless here, which in turn brings all the worms right back out of the woodwork. I have resigned myself to let this crap die and be an unfortunate thing of the past. I support the work of BB not for his sake, but for the sake of the abused. I don't have to like him or some of the things he has said, but when it came right down to it and someone like Lin or Jes or even BB called me and said we'll be at the KH down the street from you for a protest, I would be there in an instant. Let it go gents and move on for your own sakes and for the health of our board.
Sincerely,
District Overbeer

Waiting,
I'm also assuming that all the indepth responses that have been posted on this issue of Franz/Bowen/SilentLambs will contribute thoughtful responses to this article as we're so interested in it?
Should I post if I agree and remain silent if I don't? If I remain silent on your thread will it be viewed as supporting pedophiles? Or will it be viewed as proof that the Bowen/Franz thing is more important to me than children?
God, I just love litmus tests!

Does Bill Bowen really need a high approval rating here, on the board, for his mission to be a success? I dont think he spends a lot of wakeful nights worried about what people think of him.
I do think he spends a lot of time getting the job done. There are only so many hours in the day and I think he spends a greater portion of his day actively helping people.
Look, no one will ever praise this guy for his diplomatic skills. Many will probably turn blue in the face if they are holding their breath for an apology.
I liked the Patton analogy. Patton made a lot of enemies, but he got the job done in the meantime. His seemingly brutish efforts brought a swifter conclusion to the war and ultimately saved allied lives.
Do the ends justify the means? Only the individual can decide.

For those of you who want to condemn people for not supporting Bill Bowen, you can condemn me. I don't go on marches and demonstrations. I never have and I probably never will. I have not given money to his cause. I do buy Bill's candles on a regular basis, however. I make contributions in other ways. I have reviewed Penton's manuscript for his next book and made comments. Bergman is going to send me his updated manuscript and I will review and comment on it as well. If you think that is unimportant, then so be it.

What a lovely sentiment and such a nice epitaph.
I think the important thing is that you remain comfortable with your own level of commitment. One should never feel pressed to overexert themselves if they dont have to.
Its obvious that youve put a lot of thought into this. You will no doubt be remembered for your courage and the extravagant way in which youve helped others, long after youre gone.

I'm aware that my probing this issue has caused discomfort to many people, I am also aware that others have welcomed it feeling that there were things that needed to be said.
I feel that we may all ultimately benefit from this uncomfortable exchange, howver I personally have no intention at present to raise this issue again, although I may comment to other threads from time to time.

RevMalk --- Good lord, either you didn't read my post at all or your reading comprehension level registers right around the square root of a negative one. And what's this about an IQ of 180 something? Are you sure you didn't get the decimal in the wrong place?
To keep going on and on and on with this to the benefit of no-one.
I'm glad you agree. So take your medicine like a man, stop your whining and let's get on with the program.
