sheila,
why does this have to be such a hate filled discussion? can't we just talk about it in a calm way?
holisitc has also a meaning outside of medicine.
from a google search:
"Humanistic Psychology is founded on a dedication to the wholeness of human life, a conviction that life has greater potential than has yet been realized, and an openness to a wide range of observations, methods, and practices. In this perspective we draw humility, challenge, and encouragement from the realization of how much about human beings is yet unknown. Commitment, struggle, successes and failures, and a continually receding frontier await those who would join us."
------- James F. T. Bugental
now in my vocabulary (at least in german) you would call this holisitc.
I just happen to be intelligent and very into psychology and forensics.
i did not question your intelligence nor your interests.
about the edited post: i think this was a simple misunderstanding (i was referring to my original post you to a later one). in any case i did not mean to question your honesty.
Also, I have never said I wanted to be a psychiatrist. I just happen to be intelligent and very into psychology and forensics. Guess you could call it a hobby. You should not make such snap judgements without the evidence and before you comment you should read what the person writes. You assume and your assumptions are without basis tsk tsk for a scientist this is not a good trait. As for my anger, yes I get down right mad at ignorance.
judgement about what? you becoming a psychiatrist? when did i not read what you wrote?
Also humanist psychology developed after FREUD
sorry probably my mistake but couldn't the word after mean based on in this case?
PS again WRONG, it was largely founded on Carl Rogers. But 50's not 60's
i think you stated this twice
anyway...i don't claim to be a psychologist and do not intend to pretend to be one but i know quite a bit about the subject.
so having said this perhaps we can continue in a more civilized fashion.
