Used to attend Summer assemblies in The Arena, lots of stepped areas at exits so panic from an explosion forcing people out to face potential panic crush. Saw Peter Kay the comedian there, how sad now...

News here in Liverpool from where many of the young ones went speaks of the amazing kind acts and support from all around the Arena, hotels looking after children, taxis operating for no charge etc etc, First responders appear to have done a brilliant and harrowing job and deserve all our thanks.

Politicians infesting our society bring nothing but shame on them with hand wringing and weasel words. Action please, expel criminals, expel hate preachers, no publicly funded solicitors milking public purse to defend scum.

Was shopping years ago in Manchester when IRA bomb went off, never returned to shops. Panic builds into you.

    Deep regrets for all affected

The witnesses normally have their convention there early July. Been there many times.

Taxi drivers from Manchester and Liverpool flooded to the site to take people home free of charge. Local hotels opened their doors and took in loads of kids and are doing everything they can to get them reunited with their parents. Scores of random acts of kindness by passers by to get people home and reunited.

    Sometimes people are awesome.

Condolences and best wishes to those involved,

Now will Russia ban Islam also! Seems rather prudent, since they already banned one "false" religion . They seem at present to be the only country with gumption to do something. It would be great if they start a trend with countries that have had enuf of this crap, and more and more start restricting "freedom" of religion.

This is a terrible, sick and tragic event that is sadly yet another in the long line of senseless violence committed by these extremists. There has already been examples of individuals Muslims providing help and support in the aftermath of the event (e.g. taxis drivers giving rides for free from miles around) but the time is now for all those that would describe themselves as peaceful and moderate to stand up, condemn the violence and change their views away from this medieval nonsense that permeates the whole faith with it's insidious hatred.

Of course not every follower of Islam is actually likely or capable of perpetrating this type of violence but they follow a religion that in principle tells them to be different, elevates the Muslim over the non Muslim and, just like the JW faith, does not permit people to sit on the fence when push comes to shove.

The only way this type of behaviour can be eradicated is for the entire faith to be reformed and secularised just like Christianity has been to the point where the violence simply cannot be justified.

It's the responsibility of every Muslim in the UK to stand up and decide how they want their religion to be.

When are those in the western world Governments going to realise the real threat of Islam/Muslim religion on their territories ?

Ok ,have a symbolic amount of these people in your programs for assimilation /immigration etc. but dont bring them in nilly /willy , you will do so at your own peril.

These Islam /Muslim idiots have no qualms about killing their own people so how do you think they feel about killing your kids..?

It is not Christians ,Jews .or any other religion that is engaging in these atrocities it is solely Islam /Muslim that are responsabile for these atrocities . That are happening with more and more frequency around the world.

It is about time we called a spade a spade .And doubt with it appropiately .

Ban Islam in the west? In the U.K. at least, if a person publicly says anything derogatory about Islam, Muslims, or the prophet Mohammed, their feet won't touch the ground as they get charged with "inciting hatred" and rushed into court. Christianity? It's fair game and you can virtually say what you like about Christ and his teachings.

It looks like certain governments are fearful about upsetting Muslims. After Jyllands-Posten & Charlie Hebdo, it's easy to understand why.
