Other than a few posted by Mulan, I don't know any of these guys, and I'm not exactly a tender youth.

George Cook: Mulan, I thought this guy was a bit of a Nazi. Local elders used to cringe when they found out we were the host cong. for his visits. Liked to dismiss brothers serving in departments if their hair touched their collars. Ended up with NO qualified brothers in the sound department once.

CO Michaelson: Tall, blonde, Finnish from Michigan's UP. Famous for a talk about trees wherein he punched his point with the word, "WHACK!" (I've always wondered if Focus knew him). Gave great story-telling talks.

CO Peter Michas: Greek, wonderful operatic voice, bad heart. Left the circuit work for health reasons, but returned a changed man. Finally put out to pasture with no way of earning a living. Last I heard, he was singing in small clubs in Seattle for change.

CO Tim Antonio: Another great speaker, but an outrageous elitist, he always sought out the company of the weathier Dubs. He had a taste for pricey single-barrel whiskeys and the widows of the congregation couldn't seem to afford to serve him.

DO Holeman (sp?): Also a hard-liner. Was famous for ragging on issues such as chewing gum and slit-skirts.

From the past: Johnny Palouso, another from the fine Italian school of CO's. Single when he served us. Flirted openly with my sister.

And if you would care to step in to the Wayback Machine: Van Ike and his harpy wife. He was old even when I encountered him in the early 60's. Was a former vaudeville performer who did a bit with spoons, and claimed to be of the annointed. His wife once humiliated my sister in front of a car-group because her bookbag (which probably came from a thrift shop because we were poor as dirt) was not up to her standards.

Max, you know any of these dudes?

Manfredi and Barton, both kind and loving, good teachers, unassuming. Both fine examples of Christians.

Waschalk, (sp?)arrogant, unapproachable, over enunciated speech, made
comments from the platform that belittled sisters.

betweenworlds- your in my neck of the woods. I liked Valorz somewhat also; he never replied to a person letter we gave him and that didn't sit well with me.

Stockholm was one arrogant SOB. He practically held then congregation hostage during one of his visits to try to get anyone in the audience to come and confess their "secret sin" and get help. Don't think anyone did. His line was, "All other congregations I visited have had someone confess, don't be the only congregation not to." Wasn't he the one that travelled with his own personal pool cue?

Max- Scaglione must have been sent to upstate NY as some sort of fresh-air exchange. I remember one assembly where some brother went overtime and Scaglione was fit to be tied. He told everyone that because of some cetain brother, we weren't going to be able to hear all of his "important" talk. And that Brother was never going to have a part on an assembly again.
Nothing like being tactful and discreet. When I think about it, what crap I've been put through over the years. It's a wonder some of these DO's and CO's haven't got their lights punched out. Does anyone know if anthing like that was ever done?

Beware of organization… it is wholly unnecessary.

Jerry Cranna could be charming but he got removed as a
C.O. because of wrongly DFing people. He was a sick
man inside his head - he left a trail of wreckage behind
him in upstate NY and other places. It got so awful
that the Society had to act - and that's pretty bad since
C.O.'s can act like gods and get away with it!

I heard the rumors about Peter Lett also. He is the CO that got me into Bethel. Wouldn't ever speak to me after I was dismissed even though I got accepted to serve as a pioneer. It that Christ forgiveness thing I think. I remember him as being very haughty. When we played tennis and hit the net on our serve we'd yell Peter instead of Lett. ha ha, guess you'd have to be a tennis player to get that one.

Sinutko is still living? Wow. He was always my favorite speaker, I guess like many of us. And he really did believe what he was saying?
Well, so did I when I was a witness.

    No one remembers Don Campbell?

Can someone refresh my memory with the name of the Nazi-tyrant whose claim to JW fame was that he was the first JW to preach in Mongolia?

He would likely be in his mid 70s now, if he hasn't died of a shitfit yet.

Connie Wilson was one of my instructors at Pioneer School. I was so impressed by his stories of faith-under-persecution in the 60s. He and his wife look very young for their ages. A couple years later, he was my CO. I avoided him like the plague, because I was starting to drift away by then and I didn't want to see him. He had such high hopes for my potential. Then I heard that he later became one of the helper dudes to the GB.

JR Brown was my DO. I never had any interaction with him, but he scared the crap out of me because he had a reputation as a hard-liner. Good speaker, though.

RL Jones was probably my favorite speaker. No-nonsense, but had a sense of humor. He made the tour of the city circuits, then went into some of the suburban circuits, but the suburbanites wouldn't put up with his emphasis on FS. He absolutely MANGLED my name at an elders/MS meeting, and I never did figure out if he was joking or not.

I remember Don Campbell, Joelbear. I remember his wife more. I think he ended up overseeing the building of assembly halls, last time I heard about him.

The biggest jerk CO I knew was William Ward. He serves in Southern Cal now. The second in line is Brother Kalandros and the stupidest and most senile CO I ever met in my life was Waddington.
