Oh. Woops. Far be it from me from having all my facts straight. Pardon my obvious ignoramiousness... My point is still valid, I sincerely hope.
Yep, it is....So is your smile.
Tats, he isn't the only sick pup to have aired the soundtrack on national radio.
I have mixed emotions about the airing of the audio and/or video of the event. While I'm sickened to hear and see the execution, I am even more outraged that a civilian was executed by extremist elements. I think that putting this right in front of the world gives each of us a solid slap in the face ... something to wake us from the complacent slumber of dealing only with the trivial issues that run our day to day lives.
I do not think that this is uncalled for whatsoever. Why is it ok to watch the abuses at the Iraq prison yet not watch or hear the harsh realities of war?
I believe that Americans in general lead a lifestyle with blinders on. When I first heard of the ?beheading? the first thing I pictured in my mind was a Samurai beheading. Clean cut no pain.
This man went through hell as some Iraq prisoners did as well. Why should we continue to shield ourselves from the realities of war? Why does it seem to me anyway that watching the Americans abuse prisoners seems ok and people are horrified by it, yet listen to that poor man and there is outrage? Perhaps because he is one of our own and it affects one differently?
I don?t know this, I do however know that the blame game must stop; people need to realize that the soldiers who committed these abuses are a few in a million and Americans have been labeled animals. Yet, when the reality of this mans death hits the news we again are ostracized because we dared to show what happened to one of our own.
This is not the first time this has happened, nor will it be the last. It happened to Daniel Pearl as well, and it was quickly forgotten. Perhaps they aired the tape because many were under the assumption as it was a "Samurai" beheading and not outright horrendous torture. Perhaps because they cry it was in retaliation for what happened to their prisoners the world accepts this as fact and its 'ok'.
Yet, when the Americans say they were retaliating for the rape of Jessica Lynch no sense of understanding of human nature is shown to Americans, we are labeled animals. When the Iraq people were avenging the torture of their prisoners by sawing off this mans head it seems oh, ok that?s their nature and we just need to accept it and move on.
This is mind boggling to myself and others who are outraged at the lack of media coverage concerning this contractor, or the simple headline ?Man Beheaded? ( read Samurai beheading) , not reading ?Man Tortured; While Having His Head Sawed Off, Slowly Screaming In Agony?. While the American abuses have been touted, explicit headline after headline

oops, wrong thread!
To me it's similar to when the U.S. aired the death pictures of Princess Diana. There are just certain things that go too far (and that's saying a lot coming from me)
I know I'm going to catch hell from some people for me next statement but I'm going to saying it anyway because I'm fired up. All of this gratuitous murder and torture and stripping of diginity is just more examples of the waste of this war. Both sides have acted hypocritically.
I think it's the MOST disrespectful thing ever to exploit someone's death in the manner that the media has done in some cases.
sorry to go off on a tangent, but there are some things that just really set me off
The THUNDEROUS SILENCE from the JWD conservatives on this thread is telling indeed...lol
Sean Hannity has beady eyes and a permanent smirk, like most AM radio blowhards. The cover of his book creeps me out. So this comes as no surprise.
What's horrible is that this man was murdered in the first place. He was not a soldier!!!!! We should be outraged that this happened. Those damn Iraquis were soldiers, prisoners of WAR. Ok, so its not ok to humiliate them, but they were not killed were they??? Its not the same thing.
I do believe they should find these oh so brave men with black hoods on their head........read COWARDS and slowly chop off one of their body parts.
