I do however know that the blame game must stop; people need to realize that the soldiers who committed these abuses are a few in a million and Americans have been labeled animals. Yet, when the reality of this mans death hits the news we again are ostracized because we dared to show what happened to one of our own.

I see your point here, Cassi. I replied before having heard the audio byte myself, and before really thinking about it. The more info we can have about all of the issues the media is presenting is probably a good thing, helps us to be better informed. I'm still not very clear on what happened with the prisoners, though, as in the gory details, so what does that say?

I guess I jumped on this because of what I perceived as media spin, because I just hope it isn't used as an excuse to "retaliate" on parties not involved in it. I would hate to see that happen (again).

What, no outcry about the pornographic, humiliating pictures of the boys at ABU? No, How disgusting! How could the media CIRCULATE such disgusting pictures? It's humiliating for the prisoners and for their families!!! They could have just TOLD us about the abuses going on, rather than spread it all over the media.

Nope, we just lapped it up, posted it all over the internet and in all major and minor papers. People can't seem to get enough.

So, if you think the "torture" pictures were appropriate, why is not the murder which was VIDEOTAPED and recorded, not appropriate? What's the difference? why is no one decrying the sick "f**&ks to circulated those pictures.

    A few points.

The pics of the prison abuse have been edited, cleaned up, penis' blurred, and many not shown. Did Sean Hannity try to obscure the sound of this man dying? No. He did it as a political stunt.

What's horrible is that this man was murdered in the first place. He was not a soldier!!!!!

I can't say that I see any big difference. It would be every bit as wrong, and to me, more sad, if he were a soldier. He went there knowing the risk, knowing that the entire country is teeming with people who would see him as a proxy for every bad thought they have about the west (and Isreal for that matter, as he was Jewish).

We should be outraged that this happened. Those damn Iraquis were soldiers, prisoners of WAR. Ok, so its not ok to humiliate them, but they were not killed were they??? Its not the same thing.

Well, the only thing I agree with is that it's not the same thing. Then again, I'm not particularly inclined to take the word of radical muslims that they did this as tit-for-tat for the prison abuse. Maybe, maybe not. They would have killed him or let him go w/o the prison abuse scandal based soley on their beliefs as to what is best for their cause.

"Those damn Iraqis"? *shakes head* No, they were not necessarilly soldiers or p.o.w.'s. And yes, evidently, some of them were killed, and with more brutality than a quick knife to the throat.

Perhaps the board should be asked where was the outrage when a JW (I believe) missionary was beheaded by the muslim outlaw faction in the Phillipines?

There was nothing 'quick' about it Six if you have watched the video we must have seen two totally different videos. They did not cut his throat and then behead him, it was done from the back of his neck ,while they were sawing slowly, torturing him.

No, I haven't and won't see it. Those fact do make it more disgusting and horrible, w/o question. Even so, it is not as brutal as being pummled to death or many other means of death.

I've seen more than enough pornography of violence in my life, and yet I'm guessing this would be the worst. I have absolutely no need to see worse than what I've already seen w/o being forced to.

I agree to an extent. Yet, anyone can turn a channel, no one is forced to watch such and should not be. But my point lies in my previous post.

This is mind boggling to myself and others who are outraged at the lack of media coverage concerning this contractor, or the simple headline ?Man Beheaded? ( read Samurai beheading) , not reading ?Man Tortured; While Having His Head Sawed Off, Slowly Screaming In Agony?. While the American abuses have been touted, explicit headline after headline

Why not tout this for what it was than sugar coating it with the headline of Man Beheaded. As I said before the graphic details of the Abuse of Iraq prisoners is on the news every second, yet when the grapic deatils of this comes to light people squirm.

If just seems to me that the American abuse is being touted and headlined while this abberant behavior is as I said sugar coated. Two sets of rules for the media IMO, make the American soldiers look horrible yet excuse the Iraq behavior or not make it seem quite as bad.

It seems to me you've missed your own point. Indeed, from a visceral standpoint, the beheading is worse. The sound of the beheading is beyond worse, I'd imagine. But the prison abuse pictures have been scaled back, have been taken down a notch by the media. I think people are confusing volume with content.

It's no mystery why the prison abuse scandal is at the forefront of the worlds stage right now, not to anyone who thinks about the world and their place in it. In spite of the people down at the corner coffee shops' refusal to think about it, America does not live in a vacuum, and never will.

I tried to view the video on line. I could not watch the entire thing and am glad I had the sound turned down. It is such a terrible evil thing they have done and I am so sickened by it. outraged. What can I do?
