It's the whole "I'm enlightened and you're not" attitude that bothers me. Like it's some sort of club that some are invited (or perhaps forced) to join, and others are not.

It may seem that way, but suppose for a second that the actual enlightened attitude would be that we're all the same, and it matters about as much as if you are part of the Mickey Mouse club - that would put a whole different spin on it wouldn't it?

    Did someone mention breasts?

    B.

Did somebody say McDonalds? Supersize me.

    Pleasuredome

    • Muscle twitches, orgasms or spasms.
    • Energy rushes or immense electricity circulating the body
    • vibrating, tingling sensations
    • Intense heat
    • Involuntary bodily movements: jerking, tremors, shaking; feeling an inner force pushing one into postures or moving one's body in unusual ways.
    • Episodes of extreme hyperactivity or, conversely, overwhelming fatigue
    • Intensified sexual desires
    • Racing heartbeat
    • Spontaneous vocalizations -- are as unintentional and uncontrollable as hiccoughs
    • Hearing an inner sound or sounds, classically described as a flute, drum, waterfall, birds singing, bees buzzing but which may also sound like roaring, whooshing, or thunderous noises or like ringing in the ears.
    • Altered states of consciousness: heightened awareness; spontaneous trance states; mystical experiences (if the individual's prior belief system is too threatened by these, they can lead to bouts of psychosis or self-grandiosity)
    • Heat, strange activity, and/or blissful sensations in the head, particularly in the crown area.
    • Ecstasy, bliss and intervals of tremendous joy, love, peace and compassion
    • Psychic experiences: extrasensory perception; out-of-body experiences; pastlife memories; astral travel; direct awareness of auras and chakras; contact with spirit guides through inner voices, dreams or visions; healing powers
    • Increased creativity: new interests in self-expression and spiritual communication through music, art, poetry, etc.
    • Intensified understanding and sensitivity: insight into one's own essence; deeper understanding of spiritual truths; exquisite awareness of one's environment (including "vibes" from others)
    • Enlightenment experiences: direct Knowing of a more expansive reality; transcendent awareness

Not really. There is still someone claiming to be enlightened and a member of the club, regardless of how trivial it is.

FWIW, I think it is about as important as the Mickey Mouse Club. As I said before, I'm not trying to trivialize your experiences gentlemen, but I'm not striving for enlightenment. If it were more important, and as spontaneous and easy (for lack of a better word) then wouldn't we have the enlightened among us be our world leaders? Especially if what Dolphman said were true, that the enlightened use their entire brain and not the 10% that the rest of us use. They would certainly be more qualified than those currently handling things.

Now, if you could prove to me that someone like Bill Gates (since DM works at Microsoft) had awakened his Kandalini years ago and that is the reason for his brilliant mind, well, I might give it more thought.

The 10% brain thing is bullshit.

It takes a certain type of person to pursue this kind of stuff (I admit, my personality is the sort) and that type of person is generally not going to pursue positions of great prominance or power. In Zen Buddhism someone who has attained "enlightenment" is really just a person that has their act together.
