Judging by the way alanf writes, over at h2o, the tradition was to type the previous post line by line, then type your response to each one of those lines. Kinda like the napoleanic wars, where each side lined up in a big square, and then they shot at each other, untill there was no one left standing. At least there were no arguements about who won.
