One other point, I do own a Natuzzi couch and love seat. They've been slightly damaged, but by cats, not kids. In fact, I would highly recommend Italian leather couches for parents. They wipe off real easy and look nice despite whatever your kids dump on them.
How many of you are childfree by choice?

Ok...before I get lambasted from 20 others...my post was to be sarcastic and funny. I used the term "lesbian bed death" for crying out loud ! A little tongue in cheek humor so to speak ;)

Everyone should be respected for their choices, that is the bottom line. Some folks really like kids, and other folks feel that they couldn't deal with them, and that's good. The more we respect people's choices, the better off we all will be. Why would we encourage a person that feels that childbearing is anathema to have children? It shouldn't be encouraged. No one is here to live the lives for other people. They should make their choices, and be able to live by them without getting a buncha crap.
Like a few others here, I was the oldest and because of that, I pretty much raised all of my younger siblings. There were things that I loved, and things that I hated, but it was my lot in life because I was the oldest girl. When I was 24, it was not a thing I thought about. I just simply did not want to be a Mother, ever. I just KNEW that. When I became pregnant, a decision had to be made, and I decided that even though I didn't plan it this way, this was the way it was, and I'd live with it, and make the best of it. So I did. I realized that my life would be changed, and that was that. I had my son, and I did the best I could to raise him up. He's raised now and my job is done. Yes, there is NO LOVE like the one you feel for your child.
I respect all people for their choice, and I wish people would lay off the ones that don't want to have children. If someone doesn't want to have children because of whatever reason, it's not anyone else's business. They just need to accept that.
There are plenty of children that need adopting, but some people don't simply WANT children, and I believe that those people should be left alone with their own choice. I believe they are very smart to understand their choice early in the game BEFORE an unwanted child is born.

"I just want people to know I DO NOT OWN A MINI VAN...lol!"
Well, I'll go the opposite direction. I'm very happy to say that "I DO OWN A MINIVAN!" If there's a stigma attached to owning one of these useful vehicles, I'll wear it on my lapel like a badge of honor.
BTW, Evil, I definitely did enjoy your post which I responded to. Certainly it was satirical, but I will admit it was right on the money. LOL -

I guess I unintentionally started a debate. I will need to learn how to wield my new Jedi power more carefully.
Also it boils down to the fact that perhaps people who have children in general are better than me because they are unselfish.
In case anyone is upset with me and not saying it, let me clarify how I feel on this topic. I think having kids is a personal choice and neither is right or wrong. I think both camps contain some selfish people and some unselfish.
Dr. Laura thinks it's selfish not to have kids, a myth a lot of people (not on this board) have repeated to me. People can have kids for selfish reasons too. There are plenty that do just that (not on this board). They must develop unselfishness to become good parents. People can also choose not to have kids for selfish reasons too. They must develop unselfishness to become good people.
And I need to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang again. I seem to have forgotten all except the flying car.
Evil, your post does describe slightly how I feel. I know it's a lot of work--that's a fact I have a deep respect for. I live in the burbs though, and like it. Quiet, peaceful. I've had so much of the opposite in my life, it's great to have some solitude.

144001,
Ok I did get into a Mini Van. I know they are so great for families. I just couldn't. I sat their and cried. I looked at my husband who was laughing at me while was saying "I Can't Do it...I don't want to be a Soccer Mom".
I thought the Car Sales man was going to die laughing. He said he never had seen that before.

It's ok, Brooke, I won't disfellowship you or otherwise shun you solely because you chose a vehicle different in nature from that which I chose. But if you dare express religious views that are different than mine, "the hand of fellowship will no longer be extended to you."
