I think it stands to reason that to tear out a fetus from a womb is a ghastly and traumatic act of sacrelege as Zagor's reference so graphically shows. It is a well known fact that abortions can lead to a number of problems from death to various immediate complications, increased incidence of certain cancer types, reproductive damage, handicapped newborns later in life, pelvic inflamatory disease etc
Are You For or Against Abortion?

When you think about it if mother did anything to her baby a minute after being born she would have been charged for murder. But if she aborted that baby even as late as 32 weeks or later that would be perfectly legal. Strange world we live in indeed.

Imagine if there was a test to see if the child a woman was carrying was gay?
How many would secretly have an abortion so they didn't have to give birth to 'Satan's Spawn'?

My new husband was a love child from '70. His mom bravely chose to have her son and give him up for adoption at birth. I respect her so much for her decision.
It seems to me that God aborts babies naturally sometimes in the first tri-mester if they are illformed or sick. This is an important consideration.
I believe in the morning after pill.
I believe it is terribly wrong to abort a healthy baby after it is far enough along to survive with some help like these little preemies.
I think we underestimate the considerable pain and suffering of the fetus during these life extinguishing
procedures.
My brother was born very premature and he survived and is a wonderful man who supported me so much when I left the org! I will tell you more about this wonderful brother later.
I also remember a JW woman with cancer of the uterus. At the same time she found out about her cancer she learned she was pregnant with her third child. The doctors encouraged her to end the pregnancy and begin chemo, that if she waited she would surely lose the battle of her cancer.
It was a tough decision. She chose to forgoe the treatments, give birth, then resume the treatments.
Can you imagine waiting 9 months before beginning treatments????
She did. And she gave birth in GREAT PAIN to a most beautiful baby girl.
She began her chemo and radiation but lost her life.
Very faithful indeed!!!
That was an amazing situation to watch in our congo. I visited her once while she was dying.
I will never forget the courage and integrity of that woman.
She gave her daughter the gift of life. She ultimately gave her life for her daughter. -

Yes of course I can see the irony of saving one child and killing another.
I still think there are circumtances where abortion might be prefereable. I think they would be VERY extreme circumstances, but I think they exist.
Personally I couldnt do it, unless under the most awful circumstances.
My mum tried to abort me, but I clung on. However, she was in a terrible state, homeless, no support, no job, raped while she was pregnant, and my dad was there, but too scared to intervene. I can fully understand the situation that led her to her decision.

sonnyboy said: So, what's worse, getting rid of a child that should NEVER HAVE BEEN CONCEIVED, or bringing said unwanted child into an overpopulated world that will most likely present a lifetime of pain and suffering? If abortion is even considered by the parent(s) then apparently the child was not wanted. Some may say that adoptive parents will solve this problem, but the child will eventually find out that it was nothing more than an accidental, unwanted child and still suffer psychological pain. So, if aborting a fetus will prevent future pain, then I'm all for it.
That's my feelings exactly.......there's too many people having babies today who are absolute SHIT parents and they destroy the kids' lives if not in a literal way, then in a psychological, mental and emotional way. I'm not saying abortion is a good thing, but if a woman knows for a fact that she absolutely does not want any more children, then it's nobody's damn business what she does with her body. When all the bleeding hearts have taken care of looking after all the emotionally shattered children in the world who have been born and raised by people who should have never ever had any children, then they will have accomplished something worthwhile.
It's easy to point the finger and say "YOU must have this baby whether you want it or not because I think you should." After all, it's not the pro-lifers who get to spend the next 20 years parenting the child.

While as a gay male I will not have to face this decision I will not impose my beliefs on others either.
I would like to see more funds and options available so that abortion is lessened. However, if my next door neighbor opts for an abortion due to a broken condom, drunken fling, or whatever, how does her decision affect me in the slightest ?!? I will defer to the axiom that if what doesn't intrude on my rights or freedoms I shall not impose my beliefs on others.
Her decision will be between herself, her family, and her maker if she believes in a maker as such. -

Hey Evil, what if you and your partner adopted a daughter, you might have more chance of having to deal with this issue than you think. And its not about it affecting you as an individual, its us as a society trying to decide what is acceptable and what is not, as with so many other laws/causes etc. they may not affect us personally but they are important to us as a group.

Good point big dog.
However I would be hypocritical to argue how I would potentially deal with this. I can argue dispassionately here and now, but under that circumstance who knows right?
But I must say that while many people feel my lifestyle is harmful to society at large, I must give wide berth to those who's lifestyles I do not agree with. I would personally like to see groups like Concerned Women, Focus on the Family and such go away. But for me to argue that the govt. should step in and shut them down is crazy. One can argue that those groups preach hate and thus undermine civilised society. Much as one can argue abortion is not good for society either. But I will stand by my assertion that unless what someone is doing is directly affecting my life, I will defer to them to make their own choice....even one I personally do not fully endorse. -

I dont like to see prolife groups insisting / demanding / moralising that everyone should have every baby conceived. Its not up to them to demand the whole of society follow their moral decisions.
I see many kids at school who are damaged beyond repair by appaling parenting, and I work in a good school. I hate the fact that these people keep on having kids, and dont have the first idea how to look after them. We have one little girl who the teachers have to feed on a morning because her mother just doesnt feed her! I dont know about abortion, I think these people should be sterilised. Its clear they dont want kids, but they just keep on having unprotected sex because that are so UTTERLY STUPID.
