many years ago a childless witness couple said to me that they didn't want any children.. we discussed some of the pros and cons of having them and then they said that they could only think of selfish reasons for having them.. i found it hard to argue against that.
not selfish in a nasty way of course but for the benefit of the parents nonetheless.. they now have two children.. what are the unselfish reasons for wanting children?.

Well the implication of what you are suggesting is that God put into us that selfishness. That His telling us to go forth and fill the earth was an extention of that selfishness he put into us. Having said that, it brought such great joy to me to have children and they were planned and brought forth with love.
Good thing we are selfish then, or as a race we would die off pretty quickly.
since the jehovah witness baptism is more or less worded like a contract, when someone disassociates does that mean the baptism is considered voided?.
I never heard of anybody having to get re-baptised when they were reinstated even from the most heinous "sins". The baptism is a public display of a commitment to give your life to God...or in their case...to the Watchtower Society as a REP. I dont recall reading anywhere in the bible where the disciples, even PETER who denounced Jesus himself...was required to be re-baptized after they screwed up.

we had one or two visits from an elder that i disliked, but that stopped when i told him not to come back.
we were patting ourselves on the back that we had been left alone.

boy..just when i thought things couldnt get weirder in my life...i spent a whole day designing a christmas newsletter with colorful pictures and stories about what my kids and family have been doing, and the election and you know...year end things and greetings, to send out.
i do this every year.
this year i had to file bankruptcy in august and decided to email the newsletter to save money.
Well its my husbands house too and whatever relationship this man has with my kids is between them and him. So I will just make sure I am not around when he is here. He has two other kids and their families he can go see while he is here. If they go out to dinner, I will not go. If he tries to hug me he will not be allowed to.
His father and his sister have died from Alzheimers...and I believe it it manifesting itself in him already at 74. So...I just choose not to lay in front of the bus as he becomes that person.
He wont stay at my house...not now not ever and that will be HIS choice.

Thank you all for the cyber hugs :) Im not new to the forum...had to get a new name for some reason, since my old one refused to allow me on. I was LovesDubs. But for those who dont know me...I was a JW for 13 years, and DAd in Jan 1997.My husband is still in...my three kids are not. Nor do they, including my husband, attend meetings much. I actually encouraged my little guy to go with his Daddy for a talk his dad had to do after not doing talks for many many years..as a show of love and support to him as a PERSON...and my little guy went, not begrudgingly either, to be there for his dad, because he said "Its SCARY to go up and talk to all those people mom!" He was so sweet about it. And now hes parroting so Im regretting doing what I did. I need a counterdefensive. He is in karate and baseball, and active in school and we do all the holidays ....the kids have normal lives, as best as I can provide to them a a single parent living in a two parent household. I will die before I allow them to be sucked into this cult.

Of course shes thrilled because she now has full access to all her jw kids and grandkids again. And Im....decidedly out of her life once again. I heard my husband say "Thats good to hear Sister F...." but he was reserved about it. He doesnt speak to her much which I find odd it being his mother and all. Perhaps he isnt buying that she is really "back" and knows as we all do this is just an act to get her estranged JW Elder husband back and her JW kids. Made me sick. My JW sister in law is having her 5th child in two weeks, a girl after four boys..and of course I wasnt invited to the shower. But she didnt invite my daughter EITHER which I think really sucked. Shes an innocent in all this and loves her aunt. Shes 12 years old..no reason in hell she shouldnt have been invited. So my nonJW sister in law is TAKING her and we are buying GIFTS for that baby...and I hope it heaps firey coals on ALL their self righteous heads! She will probably throw my gifts out as demonized.

My little boy however who is 8...is reciting JW propaganda and its scaring the hell outta me. He told his 4 year old cousin that his grandfather would be resurrected to a paradise earth and would live forever, and that people were not meant to die...shitski!!! 8 year olds DONT TALK LIKE THAT. Im afraid that somehow my JW husband will trick the kids into baptism...making promises to them and promising rewards to them..like if you get baptized then I will take you to Disneyworld...because they dont understand the far reaching consequences.
