Sir Nose: Thanks for the hard work. I read everything to Clyde while he drinking his coffee. You're from the UK? Will you please let me know what you mean when you refer to a person as a "mark?" Maybe the term is used that way here in the US but I'm not aware....

They both wore long skirts--must have a dress code just like JW's.

jw's view of dress code for women
by megaflower inthe dress code that the society imposes on the women has been a thorn in my side ( manner of speaking).
theses old men dictate how a women should dress and i do mean "a dress".
i can remember when i lived in connecticut and the temp would be in single digits and when it came time for field service you must put on that dress.

I just posted about two Mormon sisters knocking on our door at 7 p.m. tonight. They were both wearing long skirts, and it is well below freezing out there. Guess JW's are not the only ones who have a dress code.

They knocked on the door at 7 p.m wearing their badges. I didn't realize that they ever sent women out. Actually we had a few sessions with a couple of Mormon elders over a year ago. We finally told them we weren't interested, but apparently they asked these two young ladies to stop and see us. Very nice girls--one of them said her family goes clear back to the time of Joseph Smith.
Clyde always invites the Mormons in when they stop, but he usually ends up doing most of the talking. Sounds like they want to come back. Clyde might let them, but he has more time than I do.
Please don't worry....we won't get hooked. As I've said before, if I wanted to join a high-control cult, I'd pick the Mormons before the Witnesses, but that doesn't mean I want to be in a cult.

Are WT security staff armed?
by Gill inis any jw who works at brooklyn, patterson or the wt farms as a security guard armed with a weapon?.
i just wondered if they actually rely on the police to turn up in an emergency or what they plan to do to protect themselves when armageddon actually arrives or.....if there are intruders.. i wondered if arms were 'slightly' acceptable and if in the near or distant future another waco was in the making.. anyone know if the security staff are armed?.

Good thing that megachurch in Colorado had an armed security guard. There could have been several hundred dead.

When I was going to meetings during the 1950s -- 1970s, the talks given at the Theocratic Ministry school on Thursday or Friday night were not covered by an outline. Each speaker had to prepare his presentation in his own words.........
The exception was female students. Since Paul forbade women from teaching the congregation, it would not do to have a woman speak directly to the audience. What she could do was have a spontaneous discussion of Bible based material with a neighbor (played by another sister) who just happened to stop by to borrow a cup of nitromethane. They would sit at a table and have their discussion, and we could all eavesdrop.
Women weren't allowed to give any talks at all in the TM school until January 1, 1959. It was only the men. I also remember when they had roll call for those who were part of the Ministry School.

Perhaps remind them about the 1975 fiasco and the problems it created for many of the R&F who sold out for Armageddon coming that year,
Hey Evidently - that backfired on me. I got into a discussion with my daughter and son-in-law. They informed me I was wrong, the Society never said anything about 1975 and certainly never suggested that we sell our homes and property. My son-in-law commented that his family came into the "truth" in 1975 and they never heard a word about the "end" coming.
Giving them a copy of the 1974 KM did no good. It just got them madder. They didn't want to read or hear anything about it. They went to my father and told him that I was apostate, and he ended up signing his house over to them. Good ploy...
Funny - my son remembers my daughter (at about age 9) saying she wanted to get baptized because Armageddon was coming in 1975. It seems that most of the R&F are infected with a malady called "collective amnesia."

When nothing happend they said it was because nobody knows when Eve was created...
Back in the late 1950's I distinctly remember seeing some charts showing Adam's creation in 4026 B.C. and discussions about the 6,000 + 1,000 year reign of Christ. I asked a CO if this wouldn't mean that Armageddon would come in 1975. He said "no" because we didn't know when Eve was created - also we didn't know how long Armageddon would take. It blew my mind when the book, "Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Son's of God" came out listing 1975 as the beginning of the 1,000 year reign of Christ. I should have walked away right then.....but like a good JW, I hung in there.

WT: Your Health? You worry too much!
by Bourne inwho remembers this talk on the dc from (i think) two years ago?
this was one of the proverbial straws that broke my back.....and helped result in my ass heading for the door!.
does anyone save programs from these things?

I remember about three years ago - the CO stated that many people were overly concerned about health insurance. He continued, "In the new order we all will have perfect health." Similarly about life insurance..."We will enjoy endless life in the new order."
That ticked me off as I was having to pay for my own health insurance along with Clyde's, and I sometimes felt like it was wiping us out financially. But if we didn't have it and we had high medical bills, they would chastise us for not having health insurance. The CO gets his free.
