I understood that you can still get a pass but not in advance.
You collect it when you get there.
This info was posted on a CHD group that I belong to, I havent checked it personally.

the other day when the overseer was over, he started talking about how good the cong was and how it was the best as far as publishers.
he mentioned that we only had 0 irregular, and 0 inactive publishers.
this is bs.
Hallo AS
There's lies, damned lies and statistics, and its the latter that the CO is interested in.
Ask any cong sec.

i only know a handful of witnesses, but i do know several ex-witnesses.
all of them left in their late teens, which (as i've read here) is pretty common.
i know there are a lot of people here who left later in life.
Studied then baptized at 26 (1982) , problems with various things in org and persuaded to change congs in about 1991.
More problems from about 1997 and finally out at 44ish in (2000).
Read about the same for other half but add an extra year for his age lol.

part 2: do all the governing body believe the jw religion?
one would think that in a religion claiming to be god's modern day commissioned prophet that the men at the top, all current ten members would indeed believe!!!
does this mean that they would always agree everytime on every issue?
Thankyou Amazing
this is really useful information.
So do we assume that a fair percentage of the GB are just "polishing the brass on a sinking ship"? I really hope so and that she goes down fast!!
Cant wait to read more.

now i got your attention......(i'm gambling on those who remember these) when were you there?
what years?
and what do you remember........ they all seem like such a big part of my history.
Hi Scooby Snax
Started our JW life at Camber and we both got baptised there. At least the evenings where fun. That was all lost with Haysbridge. Self and other half worked on Hayesbridge during its refurb/construction and then did maintenance until we left the org (about 3 years ago), although Chris (does anybody remember him) did phone a few months ago for help with a problem.
Good atmosphere from what I can remember but what a waste of a lovely kitchen.
Did Twickers a couple of times - too big.
Did CP when we where assigned and enjoyed that more.
Our circuit was then assigned to Brighton - shopping during the lunch break if you where rebellious, alas I wasnt then.

after almost 5 years i spoke with my mother yesterday.
i wanted to know if she wanted a copy of the picture i recieved the other day.. she was nice and polite and even asked how i was (a big surprise when she asked).. but it seems she has some heart and respiratory problems.
and that got me to thinking.. not one of her five kids is still a jw.
Surely most people who are really concerned about their funereal rites will have written their wishes and instructions down, especially where there is likely to be religious conflict.
If not I would assume that legally if not morally the next of kin makes the decision.
Anglise
who are the governing body members?
can the average jw name even one or more members of that body?
i don't really know, but over the last ten to twelve years since i left the jw religion, i have a better idea - i think.
Thankyou Amazing
brilliant information succinctly put. The average JW knows so very little about the people they entrust their lives to.
How frightening to think that at one time we would have died for this belief.

many years after i was df'd, i found myself at the end of a shunning campaign led by a robotic jw neighbour.. the neighbour had moved in next door to me.
he'd even borrowed some tools of mine before he discovered that i was an ex.
at this point he began a serious "i'm ignoring you" strategy which i found utterly hilarious as he was the one who had chosen to move in next door to me.
Hi eman
we came in our early 20's with 3 little children.
NO we didnt fully realise what we where getting into. Having moved churches a couple of times as we where growing up we innocently assumed that leaving the JW's would be similar. ie You leave but people are still friendly and other than the "we miss you" comments it wasnt a problem.
We knew about DF but had been led to believe it was for totally evil things and therefore seldom used, and so thought that we could never do anything to fall into that category.
The love bombing certainly does cloud the truth about the borg. Maybe this was more true in our situation as we studied with the PO and wife and so certainly came in and remained for the next 18 years with the IN CROWD. (Although for the last few years in we where very vocal about things that we felt unhappy with)
No we didnt fully understand the implications of shunning. What loving person ever could given the circumstances in which the JW's choose to use it?
I wish we had the information we have now. If only the internet had been available and sites like this then nearly 20 years of our lives would have been given to this evil publishing company who masquerade as god's chosen people.
I am sorry that our children had to grow up in it.
Hopefully people today are better informed and wont be caught like so many of us who now post here.

since the breakdown of my marriage i have been living round my mum's - .
hooray for mums everywhere, but especially mine!.

((((((DMOUSE))))))
((((((LITTLE TOE))))))
I hope you are able to begin build your lives again without too much emotional stress.
I hate to think of you on your own especially at this time of year, if only you lived further south maybe we could do something.
I have a son whose JW marriage has just broken up.
PM if you'd like to talk anytime.
Take care

i'm doing a report for school on jehovah's witness and i've looked all over the internet and i can't seem to find the method by which they maintain a distinct identification (for example symbols, clothing, and appearance, etc) if anybody can help i would be grateful.
thanks
Hallo and welcome Dazedandconfused17,
That sounds an interesting project.
The JW's keep their identity by not joining or participating in the following
festivals, political groups or debates, inter-faith services etc.
A good JW will not be a close follower of fashion but will dress in what has been described variously as "Stepford wives" or "Cookie cutter " mode. If you imagine the late 1950's style that would be about right.
A good JW will not have a career but a job.
A good JW will not have friends who are not JW's.
A good JW will attend 5 meetings a week. Do pre-study for all of those meetings. Put in at least 10 hours a month doing door to door work.
With all of the above the good JW will not have the time or energy to give more than perfunctory time and attention to a job or school studies and so their identy is formed and kept.
Always remember that all these regulations are constantly reinforced in the WTBTS publications and at all the meetings.
HTH
