  Honoring Last Wishes - JW Death

  i have a dear, long time friend who left the org along with her spouse and teens, about three years ago.

  last week, her father, who had always been a sort of jw, died.

  he left his final wishes in writing that he did not want a "memorial service" upon his death.. her brother, who is an elder, has convinced her that they will be having one anyway - of course at the kh.

  JW Aging Parents/ Rest Homes

  for those of you with aging jw parents/friends, i would like to pose a question: .

  if the time came when they would need to reside in a senior assisted living facility of some kind - would the jw belief regarding close association with "the world" keep them from moving in?

  the wts does not provide any kind of jw home environment for the elderly/infirm and when folks have had their thinking controlled by the org and taught the dangers of "the world" for much of their lives, this can be an especially traumatic time.

  I lived beyond 21?

  today's my birthday as i hit that 1/2 century mark - and here i didn't think i'd make it past 21 (1975).

  how does it start out today?

  i'm walking at a local park and happened upon the retired couple who are volunteer rangers - i mentioned that later in the day i'm returning to the park with my family to take some family photos on my 50th b-day.
