  Where did they get their brainwashing tecniques?

  what is really the most disturbing thing to me is that i really do feel that i was brainwashed in those 20 + years in the org--i mean seriously brainwashed.

  i am not an idiot, but there were times that i look back on now where i was a radical jw, though this is not really my personality to be such.

  i remember after assemblies (while greatly relieved it was over with aching back and all) i would feel different--sometimes i would start donating more money to the wt and at one point i seriously thought of puttingthe wt in my will.

  questions from a newbie!

  ok i'm too impatient to look through all the old posts..so hear me out.. i'm studying with witnesses, but not yet baptized.

  i was raised around the truth.. i've looked through some of the old posts and i have heard alot about the shunning of former "members".

  i've been told that this is not a scriptural practice.

  why does jehovah allow our children in the congregation to be abused (physically and sexually) by others in the kingdom hall ?.

  were not children, the most important to jesus and jehovah ?.

  paul said "boast" of the emptied "stauros" on which christ died as a symbol of resurrection over death, so it is unbiblical to call a cross a repugnant murder weapon (gal 6:14, 1 cor 1:17-18) those who teach christ died on a stake or pole instead of a cross ignore that human remains with the ancient item of death and also inscriptions show archaeologists that the stauros was a cross not stake.

  dr frederick zugibe's research shows suffocation would be in minutes if on a stake but in hours if upon an outstretched cross which is just as luke

  Why Do JWS celebrate Memorial on different day than everyone else?

  jehovah's witnesses have explained many times at the memorial's why they celebrate a day before the jewish people celebrate passover.

  i do of course understand that tech, the jews are celebrating a different holiday than jws.

  i found a simple explanation of this a year ago, but now cannot locate it.

  i became part of the internet community around 2000, and one of the first things i type into google's search engine was "jehovah's witnesses.

  " i was presented with an amazing number of websites devoted to jehovah's witnesses.. i clicked on one site, which really led me to a posting on a bulletin board.

  at that time, i was a believing dub.

  Would you wear a crucifx?

  my wonderful husband knows that i have been a religious person most of my life and while he despises jehovah's witnesses with a passion, he knows that i still believe in god and christ.

  he being a greek orthodox and a wonderful human being he bought me a beautiful crucifix of jesus on a cross.

  it is black stone and silver and says on the back of the cross, alpha and omega.

  given the topicality of the passion of the christ, it got me thinking again about the manner of his death... i had always been led to believe , in my days as a dub , that death on a stake was far more likely and logical because to be suspended with spread arms would place too much centre of gravity in the centre and the body would pitch forward.. given that jesus took several hours to die, i found the following quote from .the above site interesting ..
