Why do they still have an effect on me???????

i was at work today and i noticed a tradesman walking through the building wearing a t-shirt with a company name on it.

i knew it was a dub's trade name and felt sick in the stomach.

i didn't recognize the man wearing the shirt and thought maybe the business had been sold to someone else.. at lunch time i sat near a door and saw the boss of the company.............yes, it was the dub!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Remember - if the WTS is wrong as we all think - then think of all the things they've missed out on in life.. if the WTS is right... do you really think a loving God would accept people who condone paedophilia (that is what they've done by keeping quiet) into His new world ?? this 'servant', and the other conspirators who kept quiet, are wasting their lives. how does everyone else cope with being shunned by family?

I'm a newbie too, and have found some comfort here in the arms of my disgraced brethren!! Regarding your comments...

I had someone suggest that to me, when I was first DF'd. My point of view here - take it as you will.... 'doing that would be hypocritical, and a waste of time'. At the end of the day, they've unjustly judged, and sentenced you, to exhile. What makes you think they wouldn't do exactly the same thing again ?? Is it really worth putting yourself, your family, and your 'dub' relatives through all this elation, and ultimately, heartache ???

As regards coping, I guess I'm lucky that my Mum is quite level headed when it comes to spending time with me, although I do suffer every time the jibes about going back to the borg!! I guess for every blessing there is a price to pay **Big Sigh**

Stick around, and get the help and encouragement you need. IMHO, giving your family false hopes of you remaining in the borg would only prolong the pain!

JW's and Funerals..... your thoughts please, including current JW's

a morbid topic i know, but one that has played on my mind since i was df'd.. my mum is still a very devout witness.

if anything happened to her, what would the witness position be on my attending the funeral ?.

i know she would (quite rightly)expect a service at the kingdom hall.

I'll elaborate on this, because it has only been touched on tentatively. It sounds like OrangeFatCat has similar worries....

My main fear is the witnesses trying to stop me attending a 'christian' funeral to sit with my mourning family, and be a part of the whole funeral thing. If it meant a choice between starting a scene at my folks funeral and staying, or quietly melting away to mourn in quiet, I honestly think I would create havoc!

Whilst I do not want to sound unneccessarily agressive or violent, woe betide anyone who tried to stop me!! I fear there would be need for many more funerals in their locality if they did. But then they welcome death, don't they, in the face of doing the WTS will ?( I say WTS instead of God because what loving God would want to ostracise a mourning person?) ? Quick passage into the new system and all that!!!

I do hope I 'go' before my Mum or sister!!!!!

who knows what will come in the years ahead from terrorism, global warming, conflict over natural resources, proliferation of wmd, et al.?

it's not hard to imagine truly horrific things happening.

i don't think it's likely, but perhaps one day the major powers might even respond to religion-related terrorism by joining together to restrain or control religion under the banner of the u.n.. such events certainly could trigger a response from the fears/phobias that ex-jws may carry around with them due to years of wt indoctrination -- however much repressed these are at most times.

One fear / recurring dream I have is about Armageddon.

When I was first DF'd, I used to think "If the world powers DO ban religion, and the witnesses are right, I'll just go back then" However, wouldn't that be like waiting until the first drops of rain at the time of Noah and the Flood ???

Nope, I'm out, I'm staying out, If they're right after all this, then would I really want to be part of a new system where these people are 'overseers and shepherds'? I dont think so!!!!!!!

I used to do a mixture of most of the things already said....

Look at nice sisters, fantasize, pass notes, look at my mates and try to crack them up!!!! I also used to look forward to the fellowship afterwards too!

Occasionally, I'd listen!!

For the really boring public speakers, I used to play Theocratic Bingo... if they said 'theocratic buzzwords' 5 times or more I'd get a line. I always wished i had the balls to shout 'House!'

There wasn't an awful lot of Nepotism in the congregation I was brought up in, but there was certainly favouritism. Certain ones in the congregation got all the 'priveleges' - I wasn't exactly 'passed over' for any of these, but had to push chuffin' hard to get anywhere!!

Occasionally, if Elders children got into 'mischeif' they would try diversion tactics though to shift the focus.....
