Hello, welcome to the board. Although some name calling does go on, this is generally between people of any faiths which have had mis-understandings and occasionally from witnesses who have come in here admitting they are counting time and trying to ram it down peoples throats with every opportunity.
As long as you don't do this, I can't see a problem. I have often said in my posts that I have no problem with consenting adults who choose to be a witness through choice. I will, however, not hide my anger at the SOCIETY for the many ways I feel I personally have been mis-judged and let down, even lied to.

by scumgrief ini am an active jw and was raised as one.
i have been watching the site for a while and thought it could benefit from the opinions of someone who is happily a member of the jw's.
i will not get into any argumets that lead to nothing except name calling, and will not talk with anyone who is just plain mean (plenty of them in here).

The Bristol assembly hall scandel
by sleepy inis there anyone from the area who remmbers the story of the 30,000 spent on trees for the vist of a gb memmber.. i dont know the exact story as it is now about 7 or 8 years ago but i heard it from several people that worked on the hall.. apparently a gb memmber was to come to britian to dedicate the hall (i cant remmember which one).. the brothers in charge wanted the hall to look nice for his vist.but the land around was yet to be landscaped.. so brothers enquired as to the viability of planting some trees but were informed that it was the wrong time of year and they would die.. the cost of the trees was around the region of 30,000.plus the amount of free labour from the brothers in planting them.. anyway the big bosses of the scheme decided to ignore the professional advice and planted them anyway.. they all died.. 30.000 pounds of money from old ladies, pioneers and little children as well as ordinary publishers went down the drain for the gb's visit.. nice to know they used our money wisely.

I actually think the trees were part of the deal made to get the planning application through. As to what time of year they were planted and why, I don't know.

It's not suprising that you try to bring to our attention that Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus to be alive and well. After all, the witnesses judged me and threw me in the gutter and what Jesus taught was love.

Young People Ask book
by crownboy inhow many of you guys really believed and took to heart every word that was written in it?
i was recently rereading it and it was ridiculous how sophomoric and unrealistic some of the answers to the questions were (e.g.
when you have the urge to engage in the "sin" of masterbation you should pray to god untill the urge goes away.

Is it true that one of the articles on masterbation suggested taking a cold shower? I mean is that crazy or what? "When feeling the urge to masterbate, just get your kit off and start rubbing yourself down with soapy water!!!"

I see you have good motives, however God is not not the big kid you make him out to be, he doesn't really care which day you rest, if any. These pedantic rules were made up by men. You must realise that people who accredit God with these kind of irrelevant rules and laws are actually showing disrespect to God. Do you believe this same God is still punishing billions of people for the sake of one apple?

by Moxy inon whtv upn 18 (channel 5) they aired the commercial put out by the congregation of jehovah's witnesses (12:38 am on monday night).
it is only airing in the north east us.. a brother who saw the commercial last friday said it was really nicely done.
it talks about family life and plays the kingdom songs in the background.. a telephone call to the society confirmed it was a trial, and it was a bonafide jw advertisement.. .

What is the true Religion?
by deadlyskilz init seems to me this site is full of anti jehovah's witness members.its easy to point out weaknesses of others or the organization they represent.jehovah's witnesses do often with other religions.if you all have decided that jehovah's witnesses are bad people or that the organization is false, then which one is the true religion?which religion teaches the correct doctrines?which religion represents gods truth?this question is for anyone.i'm asking this question with sincerity.

The only purpose of religion is to give you meaning to life. i.e. explaining why we are here and where we go when we die. If you can come to your own conclusions to these questions and live a happy comfortable life, then I see no need for religion.
God is to big to need anything from us. Our puny visions of God started with the primative ideas of men.

PROACTIVATE
by ballistic inhas anyone thought of posting ads in local papers (we can do that free in some local british ones) to bring together more xjws.
i ask because there are still millions of people who don't have the internet and still others (such as my older brothers and sisters) who have never thought of looking for xjws on the net.. in the first instance, it could serve the purpose of getting more people signed up and posting on here, but it could also help those on the fringe.. also, i am constantly looking on here for people in my own county i could meet up with and as yet haven't found anyone.
any ideas?.
