  St paul says that there is an inheritance reserved in the heavens "AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE" in the things learned.

  He says "that after i have preached to others I may not be disapproved somehow"

  Jude: the Brothers at love feasts tempting the weak into sin and eternal destruction.

  Those in the congregation who twist paul's words to their own destruction. (Peter says) were they never really born again - how do you tell the difference??

  It all sounds like the FDS caliming they can have their crown back, even if they go away live an evil life and then come back to da troof ten seconds before Armageddy.

  this is a very simple question which came to my mind shortly after i broke free from the jw/fundamentalistic mindset.. assuming (1) that "god" didn't do and say everything that the bible texts record him doing and saying, and (2) that the writers were not cynical, machiavelical atheists forging a "god" for the sole purpose of mind control, but really believed in their "god", the question is: how did they dare make their "god" speak and act?.

  this question, of course, is pointless to you if you believe (1) that "god" did do and say everything that the bible texts record him doing and saying, or (2) that the writers were cynical, machiavelical atheists forging a "god" for the sole purpose of mind control.. but if you are somewhere in between, as many of us are (i think), this is a fascinating question which can help us get a better idea of the true nature of faith, between passive "fear of god" and the audacity of literary creation.. any taker?

  Tales get twisted in the telling. maybe some wanted to influence others for whatever motive.

  Look at how Russell manipulated the measurements of the pyramids.

  Also ignorant folks exaggerate over time. Robin Hood, the Round Table etc. No ONE person wrote it all but each tiny change made by the copyist seemed so minor.

  where to start?

  first off i want to say that i actually took notes with my really cool 4 colour pen, and i colour coded my comments accordingly.

  green = vomit inducing, red = furious, blue = makes me sad, and black = makes me want to die, lets just say that my article was really green .

  Read the study on Education from the 90s where the WTS seemed to do a 180 degree turn.

  They said that those who left school to pioneer without adequate education, had been presumptuous, because they thught jehovah would provide for them. But then - surprise! - he didn't and they had to leave pioneering to support themselves.

  The reason I defied policy and went to university was that I saw ex pioneers washing floors for low wages while trying to pay to put food in the mouths of the children they kept having because sex was the only thing they had. (and they were too ill educated to comprehend how pills or condoms work)

  yup, i finally did it.

  i solved the problem.

  this is the final and correct interpretation of john 1.1. it came to me after reading a quote by origen: "if anyone would say that the word of god or the wisdom of god had a beginning, let him beware lest he direct his impiety rather against the unbegotten father, since he denies that he was always father, and that he has always begotten the word.

  Couldn't we use Aristotle here? Love, God etc are substances, the nature of which certain objects and beings partake of.

  The word has qualities of "godness" about it.

  Too tired to really express it clearly.

  Abraham and Solomon, To Kill a Child as a Test

  has anyone considered the similarity in the "tests" that abraham and solomon were involved with in the bible?

  abraham was "tested" by god to see if he would sacrifice (that is kill!

  ) his son if told to do so.. jehovah, who could read what was in hearts and so really did not need the test in the first place, let abraham make the preparations to kill his son to see if abraham would really do it.

  The story of Abraham and Isaac and the ram, is taken from Babylonian mythology, and is a story to explain why human sacrifice was abandoned. Religious artefacts have been found in Mesapotamia showing a ram caught by its horns in a thicket.

  As for the Solomon story, it is duplicated in Buddhism, as an example of Gautama's wisdom. The idea that free individuals were following some kind of template in living their lives makes a mockery of the concept of free will. It has lead to ridiculous over interpretations such as the camels that carried Rebeccah to Isaac represent the Watchtower and Awake magazines...
