  Did Prayer work for you, or not?

  jws, and christians in genreral, are taught that god answers prayers of sincere believers.

  on the other hand, there is a popular bumpersticker which reads "nothing fails like prayer".. what has been your experience in this regard?

  did god answer your most heartfelt prayers, or were they ignored?.

  Right on!!! We are god and he is created in our image, so we answer our own prayers, we make it happen, cant blame god now, can we?

  Father attacked his X with an axe here in Sacrament yesterday, abducted his 2 year old son and stabbed him to death with a screwdriver, didnt have enough guts to off himself though.

  1 john 5:7 says:.

  "for there are three that bear record in heaven, the father, the word, and the holy ghost: and these three are one.".

  Why should it?? understanding the scripture, not interupting, is what make sense. The following verse gives the right context as to what it means, the three bear witness to the three therefore argee, "one", in unison.

  i was a jw but left about 8 years ago, my husband wanted to go back so we have tried, i did not do so good.

  being gone so long just helped me realize this is totally false, i look at the jws as lambs being lead to their deaths.. fast forward to now, we are both in our 40s and i have had medical side effects from using birth control and other meds as birth control.

  my body can not take anymore, i have suffered breast cyst and uterus cyst, so i asked my husband who has an issue with using condoms because he does not reach a climax, and has to masturbate, to use something that would offer us a permanent result such as him getting a vasectomy.. his reaction is like why i feel even more strongly that jws are wrong.

  First of all; its your "dues" too, and he aint paying. His body belongs to you, as does yours to him. His seman belongs to you, the life in that seman belongs to God, so he is double wrong not depositing where God intended it to be. Some times circumstances, and by mutual agrrement, masturbation is an outlet, mutually and as an act of love, but his sounds like an act of selfishness...move on

  Hello, I'm new...

  i just joined this forum today after reading the comments on today's watchtower (which i have to attend in about an hour unfortunately).

  i was raised in "the truth" and it was only recently that i began to listen to a close friend of mine as he pointed out the secrets and lies that is the watchtower society and governing body.

  even though he was informing me for almost a year, he never gave up on me.

  Welcome, you will find this site to be a smorgusborg and you will need to be descriminating in what you read. Some here are very wounded by the society and still bitter, but over all you find the depth of the truth as you have never seen it before. There are some wonderful scholars here willing to do research on subjects for you. If you wish to "keep" your family containing the excitment of learning new truths..to yourself, is paramount, like listening to your freind for the last year, you will have to learn how to approach subjects with them very subtlely. Caution with your new sword, that you do not cut yourself.

  Is grace enough?

  hi again, debating again with my favorite jw and the issue of grace became a firestorm.

  my contention is that epesians 2:8-9 says it all but i get the arguement that "that's too easy" and shouldn't i have to do something.

  my point is if i earn it it's not grace.

  Works alone glorify the worker, where as faith is an exercise in the grace shown by God. The three are necessary to gain salvation, or at least a good standing before Christ, who stands in before God for us. We are deserving of nothing. The "work" can equate to actions of faith, aligninng our lives, thinking, and worship to a course that pleases Jehovah.

  Why not use mass-media...?

  as a witness i had always wondered why the society did not use modern mass-media such as television broadcast, etc.

  to communicate its "life saving message" to the masses.

  afterall isn't preaching the most important work for a jw?

  How much more mass can you get than every eye will see him coming in the clouds? Its HIS game, in HIS time and HIS way, remember HE doesnt need us, the stones would cry out a witness if needed.

  1914- What's the big deal if it's the wrong date?

  i hear it a lot on this board that the 607 date is wrong... i figured that out while i was a jw... never really thought much about it though.

  just thought, ok, if it's wrong then everything is moved up about 20 or so years.... and for that matter, why is it such a big deal to the society?

  why can't they just fix the date so it's right.

  that's right guys.

  as i told you before, they boe have been considering me for the eldership.

  which i don't care for, but since my family is stuck in this cult, i guess i can use the new position to help them see that the holy spirit has nothing to do with me being an elder.
