I remember being told of a man that was pioneering and living simply. One day he was almost out of gas and had no money in his pocket. He also had nothing to eat for dinner. However he had scheduled a return visit with someone that was somewhat skeptical. He decided to go anyway leaving everything in Jehovah's hands. Not only did the return visit result in a study but the individual offered to feed the brother. Then as he was leaving he looked down on the street next to his car and found a quarter. Just enough money to get gas for the ride home. What blessings!!! Oh and having sex with demons I'm not sure since we were taught that they were no longer allowed to take on human form after Noah's day. Maybe the single sister started the urban legend to cover up her promiscuity. Stephanie

Missed oppourtunities as a JW kid?
by kwintestal injw kids are repressed in every aspect of their lives, creatively, intellectually, atheletically...the list goes on.. what did you love to do as a kid, yet weren't permitted to do?.
i personally loved football as a kid.
other jw kids and i would play every weekend until the subject was brought up at an assembly as being competitive.

I was a straight A student and graduated in the top ten of my class. never was allowed to participate in academic clubs or competitions. It pissed me off a lot. Then of course I was told not to go to college, even though I was selected to participate in the Duke University program that follows students from middle school on to see if they have potential to go there. Hell my stepdad wouldn't even look at my report card because he said that I only showed it too him to be boastful and because I felt superior. He only wanted to see it if I was failing. Which he would have then spanked me. The sense in that reasoning? Took me until I was 25 to go back to school.
I also was asked to join the cheerleading squad and the school newspaper. Neither of which was allowed. Joined drama, wrote a comedy which I was the director and lead part. Wasn't allowed to attend or perform since it would make me miss the meeting.
My daughter participates in everything now. I even coach her Drill Team squad. I do whatever it takes to pay for her to be in extracurricular activities even in the summertime.

Remember hearing that someone sent Princess Di and Charles a copy of the the Family Life book when they got married and they sent the witness a thank you note. Everyone was waiting for a return visit and study to ensue.
I believe I've posted this one before but it is just great. Was told of stories of single sisters being harassed by demons that had sex with them because they had watched movies or done something basically that was connected with Satan and the occult. Although this was meant to scare me, being a teenager deprived of dating, sexual contact, and permission to masturbate, it actually came across as slightly erotic. Hey if it happened who could say that you committed fornication, i mean a demon can hold you down and cover your mouth so you can't call out Jehovah's name until after you climax. Hehehe!!!! Call me twisted if you will. We all have a little kinky in us.

by kwintestal ingrowing up as a jw kid i dreaded going to the meetings.
as a 3 yr old child i was expected to sit quietly in my seat.
as quite an active child myself this was impossible and lead to be taken "downstairs" on several occasions each meeting (you all know what happens "downstairs").

Meetings were torture for us. My stepfather was the kind that spent more time staring at us to make sure we were listening than he did listening himself. He even stared at other kids that were not paying attention. We couldn't have books JW or non-JW other than the Bible or publication being read. We had to comment at least once each meeting. If we had paper and pen we better be taking notes. When we were younger and couldn't keep up with notes we used to tick off how many times Jehovah and Jesus was said. This helped us keep awake. Then we were quized in the car about the subjects of the talks. It totally sucked. I remember being taken to the back of the hall or the bathroom depending on which congregation we were in to be spanked. Talk about embarassing. Oh and sometimes we were taken to the carport. That was even better, the neigbors could watch. At least we could cry out there and not get another spanking for crying and interupting the meeting (like it makes sense to spank a child for crying because the spanking hurts, ?? twisted control thing).

Are JWs Guilty of Idolatry?
by Kenneson inthe jws have an aversion to the cross but a love for the watchtower symbol.
is one a graven image, but not the other?

jgnat, LMAO!!!! I actually visited a business like that when I lived in Missouri. Everyone thought it was so cool that this witness could make the products that were tailored for our uses. We all wanted to work at his place because everyone was a witness. We would talk about how great it would be to not have to be around worldly people at work and listen to their filthy language. Nor would we have to deal with Christmas at work. We were then shot down by an MS with a stick up his ass that pointed out how unspiritual this could actually be, basically how could one do informal witnessing at work? How did you gain the tools to resist temptation and remain faithful like Noah did in the face of ridicule. this same congregation also looked down on home schooling for the same reason.

Should I teach my kids about Santa Claus? (Lie vs. Harmless Fantasy)
by AlmostAtheist inmy wife and i got on a discussion about something i never would've guessed we'd need to.
she wants to teach our new baby about santa claus, easter bunny, & tooth fairy, but i don't.
of course, as witnesses we never would have taught that, and i have to acknowledge that i may only be reasoning using that old set of values.. i don't want to look into my kid's eyes and tell her something that i know for a fact isn't true.

I grew up as a witness and began celebrating after I left and married a non-JW. When my daughter was born I was determined to not lie to her and tell her Santa was real. Besides the idea of telling your child to sit on a strange man's lap just didn't seem right. I have always had such an aversion to Santa and religious connection to Christmas that I won't allow anyone to give me anything with either Santa, Jesus, Mary or an angel on it. Although more recently I have started collecting a few angels.
My daughter says to me a couple weeks ago when we are decorating the tree, "do you believe in Santa mom?". I told her of course not. She looks at me kind of hurt and says, "well I do." I actually wish that I had given her that fantasy. She gets really uncomfortable everytime anyone mentions Santa and looks at me waiting for me to react. I really feel and she does too, that she has been short changed on this one. What's funny is that I always taught her about the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Talk about inconsistencies.

One thing i would like to now is how did your wife not get into trouble for separating? My mother tried to separate and she was told that unless her life was in danger or my stepfather quit providing the basic necessities, such as food, that was the only time separation was allowed. Then she would have to show a willingness to work with him to patch it up. For all the crap they gave you for your service you were trying to make your marriage work.
Can't wait for the next installment. Damn I am supposed to be writing a term paper and studying for finals. Was about to log off when I saw your third installment and had to go back and read all three.
Bye!!

I agree with Valis. Life in the real world as adult will come all too quickly. You need to focus on finishing school and taking advantage of the free education. Being at home may have the stress and crap with having JW parents but trust me, being on your own is hard. Even if you could find a friend that would let you stay with them you don't know that it would last. you don't want to be bouncing around from friend to friend or even spending nights in cars and such. You are too young to get your own place, no one would rent to you.
Unless your home is dangerouse, stick it out. Begin your adventure after you have your diploma in hand. Oh and continue building those friendships.
