  Jeepers Cripes I'm a football junkie...

  saturday i watched both the minnesota-michigan game and of course the osu-penn state game, as well as bits and pieces of the about 50 or so other college games that were being broadcast on various channels.

  then i watched "buckeye football fever" - a postgame show that airs on a local tv station.. sunday morning i watched the highlights from the osu game twice, as well as a "buckeye football weekly" show where they talk about the game with the coach, do player profiles, etc.

  i don't know if any other college team gets as much media attention in their respective area as the buckeyes do here in central ohio, it's something else!

  I couldn't believe they won the OSU/Iowa game, considering how it looked like they were trying to lose for half the game. If Iowa had played a West Coast Offense against them instead of trying to Big Ten it against OSU's defensive line that game could have gone the other way.

  I couldn't BELIEVE they lost the ball twice that close to the end zone. Fortunately, Iowa didn't try walking the ball down the field with a short passing game until the last five minutes of the final quarter.

  intense suffering might be the right answer in exceptional cases, but hardly for vast numbers (such as most early christians or modern-day cult members).. what then?

  I think it is because people like to feel special. Everyone I know who really believes in end of times also believes they will be spared. And they all try to get other people to be like them, or this, or that, or him, or her. But one thing is certain, however you started out isn't good enough. You have to change A LOT to qualify as a special person.

  well any of u that read my post about reinstatement will know what im on about basically i put my letter in for my family ive been dfed since march and they so want me back,.

  but the lovely elders took a month to get back to me and then said they were gonna leave it as i have the wrong motive as i am doing it for my family not jehovah, (which of course i am but they werent meant toknow that!

  ) thing is in my reinstatement meeting i knew exactly what i was doing i knew exactly what i should not and should say and said all the wrong things because i didnt want it,.

  Sweety, ask if he believes you should be free to speak what is truthfully in your heart. Ask if he will be able to love you no matter how you feel right now, if nothing else in hopes that you will change in the future. Ask if his love for you is conditional on you doing what an earthly organization tells you to do.

  But, Cordelia, you can't continue being dishonest with him. It will tear you both up in the long run. I am aching for you, I understand the pull, but if you aren't true to yourself you will be someone else's puppet. That isn't just true in this organization, if you lose your integrity to yourself you are lost, you become something other than you. If there is any way I can help, let me know.

  Lurkers, this is an excellent example of the kinds of emotional torment this Organization brings into the lives of anyone who comes to a point where they disagree. They advocate for freedom of expression, but they only give that freedom lip service. This is angering to some people, and rightly so. It is called indignance, not bitterness.

  The BEST way I know of is to threaten lawsuit against any and all corporate representatives of the local congregation. "Lawsuit" scares them silly.

  Darth Yhwh, that doesn't work. I know from experiences in my family, it just doesn't work.

  WELCOME! You will find people in various stages of withdrawal here. We aren't as "hardcore" as you might think, if you are using a bitterness scale. The way this alien "race" on Star Trek worked is assimilating people into a collective. They could accomplish amazing works within the collective, but if they became separated from the collective they had no frame of reference to themselves as people. When they ran across other species, they attempted to absorb them into the collective as well.

  The analogy is at once terrible and accurate. It also gives us a feeling of being the "good guys," a much needed point of reference to successfully be able to beat the anxiety over "what ifs." In my opinion, as a psychological coping mechanism referring to the organization as the bOrg keeps the organization in the correct perspective. The people aren't to blame, it is the fault of the collective.
