It was pretty exciting wasn`t it Carol, I too am lucky enough to stepout onto my balcony and see the launches perfectly. Have lived in the area most of my life, the Air Force & Space Center was the reason we moved here. I t was good to see the excitement in the air today.

Would you go to a funeral at the Kingdom Hall?
by Dustin inso my brother and i have been having talks about what will happen when our dad passes away eventually.
most of his brothers and sisters have died in their 50's or early 60's.
i flat out refuse to attend any part of the service that would be done at the kingdom hall.

I don`t think you`re likely to get to much comfort from anyone there anyway. When I went to my own dad`s service, it was very cold. Everyone stared at me like I had the plague, hardly anyone approached me. We had a small family only service at my folks house afterwards for the "real-blood" family, half were JW`s & half weren`t. I was completely miserable and wanted to be anywhere but where I was, I just wanted to go somewhere and remember my dad like I wanted to.

We`re lucky here in our town I guess, the community pool is at the Country Club/ recreation complex, so there`s a few watchdogs!
But our beach takes the abuse after like a surf contest/festival, or July 4th, because the city does the fireworks out over the water. Lots of garbage gets left behind by everyone not just the tourists. It`s funny people and families come to our area because it`s clean and it`s quiet here, but they sure don`t leave it like they found it!!

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

these feelings went from loathing to pity.......no iota of guilt on my part though!

Being a JW in Florida during the 70`s, Blondie`s correct we did wear light cotton materials, and brothers were allowed not to wear their jackets as long as their shirts and ties were presentable. Sandals were allowed for girls and the sisters. Of course the weather has changed alot here since then, if it`s possible, the summers are alot hotter now!! Thank goodness I no longer have that worry! (dressing-up unless I want to).
I remember going to district assemblies in Atlanta and the heat being sooooo unbearble during the summers there too. I was young but I recall some older girls and some of the teenage girls wearing halter-dresses at this time, and thinking, WoW!!! that is cool! After that I made my own sun-dresses, and halter-dresses!!!!
