Here is one from Leolais's thread some time ago. It's awesome.

can anybody please help me out with some links on the cross versus torture stake debate either on jwd or external sites?
i know there was a thread on here not so long ago but i can't find it.. also, if any of you long time posters can recommend any outstanding ones from the deepest recesses of jwd which you might have kept as favourites, i would be most grateful.
i have to go offline for a while now so many thanks in advance for your help.. emo

what was the special talk i've been hearing about?.
on memorial night on wednesday?
or was it given as a public address on sunday?.
They've given a special talk a few weeks after the memorial for many years. It's, as Blondie said, a new outline that after it's given once will be put in regular rotation. Also, every congregatio of witnesses in the world will hear the same outline on Sunday, April 30 - unless you have a circuit or special assembly day - in that case the local body will reschedule it for he following weekend.
i began studying with the witnesses in 02 and was baptized in 04 but within months of baptism i stopped attending meetings.
my marriage was rocky at best before i studied (husband abusive) but after it just continued to get worse.
i had a baby daughter when i started and had my son while going to meetings and out in service as unbaptized publisher.
Welcome Nomore.
I'm glad you found this board. There are so many here who have had to deal with similar things as you.
I hope you find some comfort and sense of belonging here.
IMHO you should let your 5 year old know you made a mistake and it is ok to celebrate the holidays. It's ok to be wrong.
i hope i don't go too long with this.... last night my wife and i were talking about her day in service.
we talked about several things of little consequence and then i made mention of a point out of the reasoning book to underscore the importance of our need to be well versed in the facts that support our beliefs.
said point is on 416 of the rs book.
It's the weekend and I can only secretly steal so much computer time. So I will say this.
Welcome Rass!!
What you're going through it tough and it will probably get tougher. If your wife freaked out at the mere mention of something like that with no buildup - then she suspects you of apostate thinking already. She's watching you and just waiting for you to admit it to yourself and her.
When I was a strong committed dub I could mouth off if I wanted about the WTS to my wife or friends and we'd all laugh or say 'Ooops better be careful saying that' and move on. But, once I showed cracks in my faith in the WTS any comment I made created a similar reaction to what you received.
I'm in the same situation as so you and so many others. I'll mull this over and hopefully post or pm you some personal advice (that I learned the hard way) on Monday.
For now - don't say anything when PMS is upon the family - and keep a calendar of when PMS occurs!
i was going to post the follow thread, but i've used up my posts for today, maybe you could do it for me?
ok folks, i'm going to attempt to write a comphrensive thread on this subject and update it over the next few days so i will be ready for my appeal hearing (which i heard at the memorial might be this coming monday).
i went to the library at mcmaster and checked out every book by grayson i could find.
Even if they listen they won't believe. Not until they're ready.
Having the information handy and ready will make sure that when the time is right for them, the time will also be right for you.
what a crappy morning i'm having.
first i over slept i was reading coc till one in the morning and woke up late, then i decided to walk to work, it's only a 15 min.
walk.
Meeting with elders? Good luck.
Wet top? Good luck.
this belief and it's explanation used to make me scratch my head.
if there is no part of you that survives after death, because of the no soul teaching, and jw's are taught that if faithful, we will be resurrected by god, the explanation goes that we exist in god's "memory" and there is a scripture used to support that.........someone help me out here cuz i don't have a bible available right now........... when this was first explained to me, i got this mental image of god as a giant computer.......not kidding........filled with all the specific dna info.
on everyone who is a faithful worshipper.
I never gave it a second thought. I know, I feel dumb now. The WTS has come out with several articles on resurection versus recreation. I read them and just assumed the argumentation was correct.
I was reading a lengthy debate at touchstone on this very subject. May even have posted a link here last week or so. Basically the dubs don't have any answer to this except "God's memory." I never realized that this just isn't a sufficient explanation -for me.
I feel that something must survive in order for God to accurately "resurect" us. What that something is and whether it feels, sees, hears or knows anything - I don't know.
It seems the Bible supports the idea that there are two things invovled; a body and a soul. I'm not sure yet of much more than that.
this is something that's really started to be irritating to me here and on some other forums that i visit.
while i've seen it in the past it seems to be getting out of hand (see the 9/11 and global warming threads) people are arguing or discussing something and all of the sudden you start seeing massive cut and paste documents!
one person post a 1000 word essay (or more) by a claimed expert supporting their side then the other does the same.
This topic was too long. Was I supposed to read it all?
this is my first post.
i've been reading for a while and can relate to a lot of the other post.
been associated with the witnesses for over 30 years now, been disfellowshipped twice but now reinstated.
Welcome Tan. I hope you find all that you are looking for. There is a nice diverse set of people here who will willingly share opinions with you.
30 years is a long time. Take it slow and you'll be fine.
As far as the notecard prayer - it is very unusual but the society does allow it. Some brothers have serious nerves when public speaking and need some reminder points for prayers. It shouldn't be scripted but just some points to remember to mention while praying. Perhaps, if no one else does, I can find an article on this on the CDrom. If not I guess it's a local thing.
hello all, i am a noob to the board.
i was an occasional lurker here at this apostate site ;)
have been doing a lot of research and man i am supprised.
Welcome to the board.
Thank God I didn't have to serve last night. My last time serving was a couple years ago. As I faded I got downgraded to mere head attendant.
It's good to have your ducks in a row. Be cautious how you discuss and approach your wife and family. If you do it right you can save your marriage (if you want to) and perhaps even get your wife to see like you.
It isn't easy and it takes a well thought out plan but several here have undertaken the task - some in process others successful, still others unsuccessful.
I look forward to your insight.
