  Hypothetical situation...

  suppose for one minute that a disfellowshipped son that has been df'd for over 10 years and gone through al of the stages of emotional and mental departure that one goes through when leaving the agency..erg...society.

  now that df'd son's father is an elder and his mother is the standard female figure within a jw marriage and neither one of them had any meaningful contact with their son for a long long time.

  now this son has already given up on them long ago but now there have been some indications that things are changing...the father stepped down as an elder...the son heard that there were "spiritual issues" with them...and all of a sudden there have been emails from the parents as if they still consider themselves parents...eventhough the son has already more than moved on.

  I started talking to my sister after years of not seeing her--I am sure she was confused at first! I had decided that no one was going to tell me who I could and couldn't associate with! It was awkward at first, but things are great now. I sure missed her! Next, I need to call an old friend.........

  they can be born breathing and crying at 19 weeks gestation, he said.

  i am not anti-abortion, but as far as i am concerned this is sub-standard medicine.

  i was reinstated probably 4-5 years ago, and i think i've been to the kingdom hall once since then.

  Nasal Surgery

  i had a septoplasty, turbinate shaving, & removal of a nasal bone spur this last monday.

  i almost posted that i was going to have a procedure and ask that you all keep me in your thoughts.....but, thought that compared to what some here are going through, that this would be nothing at all.

  has anyone here had similar surgery?

  What's the nicest thing you ever done for a Witness?

  back in 1989, i sold my car to a brother less than half price.

  it was a 88 sentra worth 11,500$ and i sold it to a brother for $4,500.

  i did this because he was a friend, and also because he's the one that brought me into the org.

  More depressing is the fact that a lot of witnesses expect things or services for free! Then if you don't give it to them for free they treat you as if you are unloving!

  the thing that was a kill-joy for me was going overtime, just ask my wife and kids.

  It seems like coming to the meeting sick proved that you were faithful! I remember being in the bathroom at the KH and a sister was throwing-up! She went back out and sat down as if nothing was wrong! She may have been on some meds that were making her sick--I don't know for sure. Anyway, plenty of people go to the meetings sick and I wonder how they can consider themselves loving brothers and sisters! What if an elderly one caught their illness and then later died?! I always worried about that!

  Mention of Jehovah's Witnesses in popular entertainment

  i don't know if this thread has been done before, but can anybody think of times that jehovah's witnesses were made mention of or joked about in music, tv, or movies?

  for example,there are a couple of simpsons episodes, one were marge alludes to being so desperate for company that jehovah's witnesses ran away when she went to get them more lemonade.

  another time, two jw's approach the simpsons' house and one turns to the other just before ringing the doorbell and asks "ruby, do you ever think we should get real jobs?".

  The New "In-Phrase" - with greediness

  from the elders school it appears as if the new phrase on everybodies lips is "with greediness" have i got this correct?

  4) A pioneer sister is dating a brother from another congregation. On 3 separate occasions, the brother kisses the sister's breasts (he is the "aggressor" in the situation). The sister is moved to tears, and finally confesses. The elders determined this was uncleanness, but there was no greediness on her part, so she faced no judicial action. ;

  Seriously, what would the sister have to do to make her guilty of greediness?
