  this is my first post of any significance and if i seem to ramble at times please forgive me.

  i have alot to say and i don't know how much of it will make sense.. .

  i need help in trying to figure out how to get out of "the truth".

  Hi

  She may not be ready to read anything 'apostate'. I have just read Captives of a Concept by Don Cameron (on this board) My friend will not read such apostate literature, so, a technique I intend to try is to:

  1. make a list of the Biblical and Watchtower texts about how important it is to test everything, keep testing our faith, investigate our own religions etc. and try to get a commitment to carry out such a test, using only Watchtower publications.

  2. Use the watchtower quotations and simple logic, in Captives of a Concept, to apply the test recommended by Fred Franz, to the organisation which Jesus allegedly inspected and appointed in 1919 based on pre-1919 spiritual food at the right time. Examine that spiritual food, then let the reader ask themself whether there remains the faintest chance that God has ever appointed or guided this organisation.

  after running across more and more threads of this nature...self righteous jdubs wanting to remind us all that we're burning in hell....i propose that prospective members pass a requirement exam.

  for example.... 1. have you read or ever heard of crisis of conscience?.

  I read Crisis of Conscience, and it convinced me to start attending meetings again.

  Only you know how much of that statement is true. It is a standard defense mechanism.

  I used the technique once when I was planning to do something that troubled my conscience. When an old friend challenged me, and tried to talk me out of my proposed action, in desparation I told him it was his opposition that made me all the more convinced that I was right. This was of course untrue, but I would not admit it, especially to myself.

  i don't know what she did exactly, so i can't speak to her specific offense, but in general i think the absolutely wrong thing to do is ban j-dubs who come here to debate.. .

  A good thread. I believe all posters are sincere and the rules should be applied equally to all. I notice how difficult (if not impossible) it is for JW posters to hide their fear and hatred. No one who has truth should need to refer to name-calling or labelling people. The sort of response we tend to see from JWs speaks volumes for the truth or otherwise of their beliefs.

  my nearly 18 year old son lives out of state.

  just recently, he agreed to look at the reasons why my wife and i don't go to the meetings anymore.

  he is very active, so i was suprised to hear that he wants to know why.

  Also, if anyone has any ideas of what to talk about first in regards to proving the WTS is wrong, dead wrong.

  So much to choose from, but the one that stumped my local PO was Romans 13:1.

  The current teaching is that taught by watchtower from 1880s until 1929. 1929 to 1962 was Rutherford's wrong teaching as Gods messenger. He got new light in 1962 (which was thinly disguised reversion to the pre-1962 light (the one most Christian religions always taught. Despite the 1962 new light, it took until the 1990s to use this ald/new understanding to properly accept alternative service for military service.

  The evidence of Watchtower publicaions caused the PO to admit that there was no information from God after all.

  did i see a post that was talking something about 'do we have the moral obligation to tell people the truth about the truth'?

  Hi,

  Just back from 10 days away to see your post. I think it was me who made that comment in reply to issues raised on a recent thread. I think perhaps that I was wrong. Or at least I didn't properly express my thoughts.

  I was probably too wrapped up in my own situation. My best friend has recently become a JW and it is harming him and his family. As his best friend of 34 years I do feel obliged to keep trying to let him know wht I know about JWs.

  The comment I made probably only applies to certain people in certain circumstances. I think I was hasty with my statement.

  when we see news reports of jehovahs witnesses who are reported to have done something bad, what do we think?

  sometimes people ridicule us for that.

  obey and become his special property, disobey and be rejected.

  Although a chosen people the jews were not seen by God as his organisation, scripture please? Jehovah and Christ was and is only concerned with people as individuals. Show me when he used an organisation rather than individuals as prophets or messengers, scriptures please.

  But there were no more Jehovah's Witnesses after the Messiah. JWs were the natural Jews. THAT is why the name Jehovah does not appear at all in any ancient Christian Greek manuscript.

  THAT is why Jesus did NOT say at Acts 1:8 anything about being Jehovah's witnesses, or even his father's witnesses - "And then YOU will be MY witnesses....and indeed to the earth's remotest end."

  Consistency at 1 Peter 4:14-16 - "But if any of you should suffer for being a CHRISTIAN, then there is no shame in bearing THIS NAME....If you are insulted for bearing CHRIST'S NAME, blessed are you for on you rests the spirit of God.

  Despite the JW attempt to insert Jehovah's personal name for the natural jews 237 times in the New Testament where it does not belong, the name of Jesus still appears three times as often. If the name of Jehovah was important to the inspired authors of the Christian Greek scriptures, why (even in the NWT) does it not appear at all in no less than SEVEN books, including Paul's substantial letter to the Philippians? It is time for the Watchtower to admit the mistake made by Rutherford and Franz, who in reality was alone responsible for the NWT version. Now Freddie never made a mistake about anything, ever, did he?

  in tacoma wa wants to talk to me about the reason why i left the org.. actually i'd like to, but what i'm afraid of is that it will turn into an argument,.

  Any chance of letting me see a copy of your blood letter?

  Some of the best simple logic I have seen yet is in the Captives of a concept book (1914 & FDS). You could jot down the main points as if your own research.

  Plan carefull & stay focused & calm & don't let him change the subject.

  moments ago on good morning america they did a piece on a recovering mormon, heather armstrong.

  the point of it seemed to be that she is handling her depression in part through her blogging journal.

  an analyst on that show recounted how armstrong is, in effect, receiving group therapy by her online blogging.. my thoughts immediately went to this forum and how it is so therapeutic to many, me included, as recovering jws.

  looking from the outside, I agree, but with a slight adjustment to the analogy. I would have thought that You folks jilted the Org rather than the other way round, even if you were DF, as IPSec said. But you jilted the Org only because you found out that this 'partner' [the org] had been unfaithful to you throughout all those years whilst you dedicated yourselves to it. Your analysis still holds very true.

  had a very interesting local needs part last nite - warning against apostate activity in our area, as well as the dangers of the internet.

  the elder giving the talk discussed how he googled "watchtower" and a whole boatload of sites came up, such as silent lambs, etc.

  "we need to stay away from these.
