Wow! (Boy) held his own!
Very interesting thread. It seems to me that most religions are all about belief and faith, but the jw's try to "prove" it as fact. They just end up looking silly like an adult trying to prove that fairy tales are real. What will they do when all of the, "generation of 1914" or the "millions now living will never die " thing, actually comes and goes without anything happening? Most of them are in such denial. But the sad part is, that in this day and age, people are still able to be mind controlled. It all makes me wonder, what do they think when finding out that meteorites that have ice and microorganizms on it possibly from other planets? or How do they rationalize the different species of humans found, by scientist, living together way before the whole Adam & Eve story ever existed? You would think a whole organization dedicated to finding "the truth" would be interested in scientific findings.

I'm a movie lover, so I could just keep going on and on if I don't stop somewhere.

I just had to go and congratulate this guy.
by Holey_Cheeses*King_of_the juice. infor his initiative, his enthusiasm, and his courage.. the story.
my wife and i have just returned from a couple of days in toowoomba (an inland city west of brisbane in oz) and whilst visiting we discovered that the australian gospel music festival was being held there over easter.
for our education we decided to visit the site (no cost involved - only for the music venues, all of which were in the same location spread throughout a large park).

People dream of a god/goddess that best represents themselves and their needs. I believe that most of the worlds problems- war, slavery, abusive views towards women, child abuse, fanatical religious practices, it goes on and on; can all somehow be traced back to a bible teaching that gives a sweet little story stating why these views are ok to believe.

Happy Easter- I was thinking of going to a local catholic church this morning too. But I had such a great time watching my children open up their baskets that I decided that being with them in my own home is more like being close to God than any church/hall experience I've ever had. Hopefully, you find the right outlet for spirituality that fits right for you. It's only natural for humans to fall short of the impossible goal- perfection. But at least they are trying to be the best they can be and not crucifying others for not living up to perfection, like the jw's do! Have a great holiday!

Good marriages, good people, and good lives come in all religions, races, and nationalities. Hopefully, one day the jw's will realize that.

Relationship/Life Pressure
by JW83 indoes anyone else here feel that they have to be 'perfect' & have a great life & never make any mistakes now they are not a jw, just to prove to all the jws that they made the right decision?

Those people aren't happy, that's fool's gold at that kingdom hall!
The only thing I live up to nowadays are my standards!!! I may not wake up everyday on the right side of the bed, or have my hair perfectly tame, or be the mother of the year, or have a stick up ... well, you know...BUT I'm being the best me I can be- by not raising a new generation into a cult. And I feel pretty d**n good about that!
Those people will look down their nose at you no matter how good you are doing, so live the life you want and dream of and don't worry about living up to their version of what a "good life" is supposed to be like.

Restricted Relationship... :-(
by Innocent_By-Stander inhi, howrestricted are jehovahs witnesses regarding public displays of affection?
brief summary: background i've been going out with my sexy baby gurl for 8 mnths now (although her parents only think it's been 5 months) she is not baptised and last time i checked she was still unsure,(i'm methodist myself).
point if she sees someone from her assembly she will stop holding me or not kiss me goodbye because the person(s) are in the vicinity and may see us because apparently it's against her religion.

Affection to a "worldly" boy would be reason for her to be called into an elders meeting.
An elders meeting is when they talk to you in private and say officially that you are now bad association. Her name will be read in front of her entire congregation and her friends will no longer be allowed to talk to her outside of the kingdumb hall. That is why she is afraid to show her affection towards you out in public. Alot is at stake here and she could stand to lose alot.
I don't mean to sound rude, but you are very naive. You have no idea how this will tear her family apart. Her father may even lose his title as an elder because their thinking is- if he can't handle his own daughter how can he handle the responsibilities of taking care of the whole congregation.
With that said, if you two are really meant to be together than you may help her make it out of that religion. But don't force it because she will only resent you for losing the life she once had.

Let me get this straight- He lied to you about being married, and having an entire family. He is suicidal and clinically depressed. And the government has locked him away for fear of hurting people and/ or himself. ?????????????????
I have a feeling your "need" to "help" him is only a detour from your own problems. Please get into therapy...I know... maybe you, him, and his wife and children can all go together like one big happy family.
