I hold my breath when passing a homeless/dirty person or if I pass someone who just coughed, afraid of their germs.

What is your quirkiest quirk?
by damselfly ini, damselfly, can not knowingly eat the little squiggly, umbilical cord things in eggs.
i have to very carefully separate the whites from the yolk and remove the squiggly bits with a knife.
i get gaggy just thinking about them.

Ive faded too successfully !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by vitty inwe moved nearly 2 years ago, quite a way from our old hall, and only attended our new hall for 6 months before we started to fade.
so we have never had a elders visit and we didnt have time to make friends, so our fade has been very successful here.. the only problem is, my family dont know we dont go anymore, which is a problem when they visit, cos we have to get around the "are we going to the meeting when we visit?
" we have managed to get around it one way or another .

Well good luck with your difficult situation. I have a really hard time with things like that, because I'm a pretty up front person. Just make sure you don't have holiday decorations on display when they come for a visit! LOL

A Good Escape Plan.
by Daunt ini'm planning on moving out from my jw parents house in about 7 months.
i'm trying to start a job and i already have a little money going into it (bout 2500 dollars little) however, mainly i just wanted to really know if this was the best course of action.
my parents are the usual jw's but i do love them, however, the pressure is just building up from all their jw reasoning and pressure and guilt trips and all that mess.

Daunt--wish you much success on your adventures! You have gotten a lot of great advice here already, as a lot of us wasted too many years in that stupid religion.
Would like to concur with previous posts--stay out of debt as much as possible, get a roommate, get your college degree, move far away from your family if it helps you to be independent emotionally. Since you were not baptised, maybe they won't shun you but I wish you much luck with your family. You have come to the right place for support.

Name Some Double Standards of Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus inhere's one: a jw cannot lie ' liars are subject to the "second death".
but if you "lie" for the interests of the organization, suddenly it's not a "lie" after all!
because the opposers are not "entitled" to know.

How about the fact that JWs can't donate to any charities or support governments or help worldly people--but they can accept welfare from the government or other types of aid from organizations outside the JWs.

Thinking outside of what is allowed
by coolhandluke inthis is my first post.
i have read and benefited greatly from all of the posts on the board.
i just wanted to share a little of my story perhaps to gain insight into myself, and perhaps just to share with like minded people.

Welcome! We all can relate to your story in one way or another. It's hard to lose relationships with family members. But welcome to being free from the BS Society, who don't really follow Jesus at all.

Am I a Sucker?
by El Kabong inthe other day, my wife ran into a girl who she used to babysit for and is now 19 years old.
i remember when this girl used to come to our house, she was always such a little sweetheart.
she always kind of reminded me of a little doll, just tossed in the corner and forgotten.

I think you are a very kind-hearted person and if I had an extra room I would probably have done the same thing. Especially since you knew her from before. Probably a good idea to put a lock on your bedroom door though, especially if that's where your banking stuff is stored. Since you say she is a little different. But I think it's wonderful that you are going to help her get on her feet. I have an 18 year old daughter who is no way ready to survive on her own.

Did you do crazy things post DF?
by anewme ini was just wondering if anyone out there had similar struggles after being disfellowshipped?
.
all my life i was a good christian person, then after getting df'd i entertained the idea to do all manner of formerly forbidden activities, since everyone thought i was going to the devil anyway.

What is good and what is bad music?
by hillary_step ina hundred years ago or so, when women did not all look the same and screech like ancient hinges, and strip malls were just a nightmare in a squirrels mind, i wrote a jazz column for a newspaper.
it did not last long as i was eaten up by the wt and became a regular pioneer with an irregular notion and a pile of scruffy s8's.. .
i well remember one issue in which i took great exception to a comment made by duke ellington which seemed to me to be far to general and subjective to make much sense.

Slim Whitman is a God
'nuff said
~Hill Ewwwwww! Do people actually listen to Slim Whitman? No offense. I enjoy all kinds of music. I usually judge musicians by not only the quality of the music but also the quality of the lyrics. What I really despise is crap like Britney Spears, people who have no talent but are just trained little robots.

Will I ever be in the top numbers? Probably not, because I only have a few hours a week to post.
