  my friend told me today that she had passed on to her friend my story bout being a jw and how now i dont have any support since leaving the borg mainly coz im marrying a "worldy" person and how my parents dont really have alot to do with me now.

  anyway jw's came to this ladies door this week and she plainly stated that she is not interested but they kept hounding and so she said im not interested in a religion that can shun family members for not marrying in your religion, or not believing in the same thing, thats not what a loving god does.

  so these jw said "oh you must have the wrong religion we dont do those things"!!!

  I have told husband many, many stories from exjw's. It doesn't matter about what, from pedophilia to shunning. Always the same response, 'you don't have both sides', or 'have you spoken to the elders in the situation'. I can't tell if he is just flat out lying or really doesn't know that the jc meetings are private. And 'loose conduct' has many meanings usually the gossip seems to be of a sexual content. Talk about slander! I have even offered to show him court transcripts, then the answer is, 'that's just ONE example', 'there are bad people who are in the witnesses that doesn't mean they are 'real' witnesses'.

  Of course, all you exjw's are just 'out to get the org'. Or have a 'beef' with the elders or cong. Basicallly, you all just lie or to be nice, embellish the story.

  Run as fast as you can from this person. Your life will become a living hell if you become involved. Better now before you commit your time and heart. Been there and still doing it, trying to have a relationship with a jw when you are not is hellish, that's the only word do describe it. just my opinion, carla

  just ex-jw who joined as adults.

  on another thread i pointed out the idea that most jw who join as adults, do so out of a need to compensate for or as a reaction to some bad experiences such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, a time of upheaval, or just a plain old poorly developed sense of self.

  the harder i try to get my friend to look into the organisation, the less contact there is between us.

  i know he occasonally uses internet & emails (secretly - he has no facilities at home or work) he is newly baptised, won't listen to any criticism, but i know is living something of a double life - most, jws are!

  now i'm thinking, what the heck, email him the link to jwdiscussion.

  Justification of misquotations

  i am seriously considering taking on a jw with the issue of misquotations especially the creation book.

  my question is does anyone know what his reaction is going to be?

  its a strange situation because theres really no question.

Sometimes someone's motives have no bearing on the outcome of anything. If the deed was evil it doesn't matter if they had good intentions or not, the deed was still evil. People can justify anything in their own minds.
  
  
  I think even the wt has used that as an excuse for false prophecies too. The date was wrong, we were just so eager for the new system, blah, blah.....As if they had good intentions or motives so that somehow excuses the false prophecy or should I say 'error'. That word somehow sounds better in their mind than mistake, wrong, or false.
  
  
  I do not believe that anywhere in the Bible a prophet was allowed to make 'errors' just because he had 'good motives'. Does anyone know of any scripts. where a false prophet was 'let off' for false phrophecy? Weren't they stoned?

  Why JW are overweight and unhealthy

  we were told at our convention that "some" brothers and sisters exercise up to an hour or 2 a day.

  "some" even join gyms.

  then we were told that this would be "self-serving" and a real waste of valuable time better spent on theocratic things.. ouch!.

  Why does fat matter? Well, it is as unhealthy as smoking and they don't tell people they have six months to get rid of their body fat or risk being df'd do they? It seems to me they would rather be sitting next to pedophile than a smoker. The wt will say that smoking is not in accordance with bible teachings, yet obesity and gluttony aren't either. To be reallly healthy they should be drinking their 6-9 glass of water a day, keeping away from high fat foods, processed foods, etc... It isn't really that fat matters or not, it's just the hypocrisy of the org that is annoying. carla

  oh my god, i'm back into the groove again.

  back when i first made the move to get out of this religion, i was partying with this girl from work, but then i fuked it up.

  second semester i made lots of friends but they really chirstian, but still fun with going to concerts and all.

  Instead of tying to be somebody you are not, why don't you just ask a girl to dance? She might think you are not like all the other dweebs on the dance floor and actually want to see you again. If some guy had tried to grab me by the side when I was 18 or so he might have found himself with a fat lip or something! You can't just go grabbing girls no matter what the 'others' are doing. Besides her boyfriend may be on his way back from the bathroom or something and you could find yourself in some real trouble. Lay back a little, if your drinking alot it will be difficult to tell who really does like you, even yourself. carla

  anyone know what the current payment for workers at bethel is today?

  last i ever heard it was 14.00 a week, certainly this must have gone up since then, wouldn't it?

  do the bethel workers and the 'farm' workers make the same?
