  What do you buy a 5 year old?

  I love the rainbow fish collection of books and its something i plan to keep to give to my children to take with them and so on, something that can be handed down.

  Jehovahs spirit on decision to disfellowship

  hi all i was thinking about this the other day and how the elders say that they have gods direction when they have judicial meetings, if that is the case and gods spirit is directing their decision then why do they have the allowance for an appeal, after all if god is supposed to be directing them there would be no mistake in the decision right?

  any thoughts people?

  sharon like her sister janet was also raised a jw.

  she left the religion three years ago just about the same time as robert and janet.

  her husband is not a jw but did attend the occasional meeting.

  Dear Sharon and Family, I was raised a jw from 4 years of age and was a very active witness, i was married to an elder and we had a great circle of friends, i was offended very deeply by 2 elders in our congregation that forced me to slip away from the meetings, my husband chose to stick to the elders instead of his wife so i eventually left and was subsequently disfellowshipped,that was huge culture shock for me, being torn away from all of my friends and family, the congregation also too tried to get my kids to stop seeing me, it was a really tough time for me but i got through it, i cant begin to imagine the pain you are going through or the anger and there is nothing anyone can do to take that away from you, but just know that my thoughts along with all others here are with you, and wish you all the strength you will need to pull through this,and thank you dave for letting all of us give our best regards to sharon and her family.

  Being a single Ex JDub

  is it just me, or is it very difficult to be a single ex?

  there are questions boyfriends ask about my family, why i dont have contact with them, and what did i do to gain their utter disfavor?

  why do i put up with what men tell me to believe?

  Hi Cammi, your not alone there, i am lucky enough to have a wonderful man in my life who loves me to bits, but,he still has issues with what i believed in, but my brother has been single for a long time, he is really good looking but cant seem to get a real girlfriend who will stick by him, i think his problem is he tells everyone what he was and they think wierdo here, my advice to you is not to tell them what you were but rather let them see what you have become

  What did you refuse to do in school?

  in high school, one friend of mine was offended by flowers for algernon because of the sex bits and refused to take it as part of the english curriculum.

  he even gave an experience about it at a ca.

  so those of us in the other english classes that year kinda had to refuse to do it too.

  what i hated the most was having to stand in front of the school office everytime they did the saluting of the flag and everyone made sure to make fun of me, no school camps, no after school friends, no life basically, oh yeah my mum took me out of health eduction coz they were discussing sex, that was sooooooooooo embarrassing

  I'm heading off to go to the Bryant memorial

  i really hate funerals and memorials and avoid them as much as i can.

  looking back on the few i have attended over the past ten years i guess i only go to them because of the people who are left behind.

  since i didn't know the bryant's or any of their family members i find the draw that i have to this service even more confusing.

  Children and inculcation

  the jws teach that you must bring the children to meetings.

  they must be inculcated, and hear, read, and respond to what is good and bad.

  that is how i was raised in the religion.

  Great point raised here, my kids are terrors and i mean that in the nicest possible way, they have grown up in the "truth" and i think that there are many many more worldy kids that behave better than them, and i think its because they have had rules rules and more rules, it makes them go wild.

  Whats the cruelest thing a JW has eva done to you

  i think the most thoughtless thing they eva did to me...and it's rather embarrassing...is when i was still a jw at 14.. i'd just had an operation to remove a cyst and my left ovary due to polycystic ovarian syndrome.

  so i'm sitting at the district convention and i get up to go and have lunch with my mum cause i was sitting with an sister a little older than me - in her 20's.

  so i start walking across the oval and there's people everywhere and i'm getting a few looks, but hey, i was a paranoid teen, they made me agoraphobic, so i didn't think too much of it.

  You poor thing larc and i can sympathize with you i had a similar experience when my daughter was close to death because of being born prematurely, not one single witness from the hall came to see me in hospital when we were struggling with the blood issue.
