i posted earlier today that mom thought the show was well done but she thought they made some "cheap shots" too.
tonight, after dinner, i asked her what she thought were the cheap shots.
i could tell she had trouble remembering, but said this: "i am sure there are some cases of molestation, like the ones they discussed on the show, that were handled badly, but there are so many that are handled in the right way.

My mom on the otherhand, would not watch the show and yelled at me when I called to give her the time for the show to air.

jws believe that god permits evil to answer the "age-old challenge from satan the devil," that man can't rule himself without god, correct?

It is silly isn't it, to think that an "all powerful God" would need to resort to "playing dirty" so man doesn't over power him.

hi everyone.. as i think about all the conversations and laughs i've had here over the last six months, it makes me smile.
there are some very genuine, loving people here and i wish you all a wonderful future no matter what you choose to do.. although i have had some terrible experiences with the witnesses, i can't ignore what i feel.
i love jehovah and if i have to associate with the wtbts so be it!

after reading you know's response to the dateline expose' i was reminded of my own brain washing years ago while being raised as a jw.
it seems so funny to me now but i too used to believe that we jws were completely normal and that anyone who said otherwise was misinformed.
when i finally removed myself from the watchtower society's influence reality slowly crept into my consciousness and the objective fact that jws are "oddball crackpots" became clear and indisputable.. as a jw i believed in a whole host of absolutely ridiculous and illogical idiocy.
Chi chi, sitting in a large circle of other people suddenly stands up and says "I confess I was once an "oddball crackpot" JW. I am now a recovering "oddball crackpot XJW"

a person has to be a bit nieve to think that if the wt suddenly gave into all of the demands of silentlambs that silentlambs would somehow cease to exist and or let up their pressure on the society.. i think there is a broader agenda here, one that includes a measure of revenge against the wt and one that won't stop until they are out of business.
no child is truely protected or safe when they are raised in a cult.
a logical extention of silentlambs would be expanding their agenda to include the blood issue and children.. it is this obvious broader agenda the silentlambs group has that invites criticism from active witnesses.
I sometimes think others have a higher expectations of the Silentlambs org than the victims and survivors themselves.
Obviously there is no way to please everyone but remember much has already been accompolished.
People who were all alone and had been silenced for years found a place to finally tell their story and get the support they so much needed.That alone is extreemly therapudic.Much more has been accompolished that I don't need to list.
Some have found new friends that understand first hand what they have been through.Finding out you are not alone is so important.
Silentlambs is not the whole solution, but it is a new begaining for many.We should appreciate what it does and will do in the future for these people.Suggestions on how to improve are good but if you think you can do better then start your own organazation and see how hard it really is.

i would tend to agree.......not just a pedophile paridise though,.
a paridise for corruption.. because jw judicial committe meetings aren't always about justice..........they are more about "who the accusation is against".. i know first hand,......you can't go around accusing elders of wrong doing........you loose, and then are labled a slanderer.....and then they spread rumors about you......or give you a public repoof ...till you get tired of being there, and you leave.
You are right, it is a paradise for other corruptions too.
Some do not like the phrase "Pediphile Paradise" but it is just that. Under current JW policy there is no better place for a child molester to be.Sadly, many of them know it too.

'hovah: well, you can't believe....... hh: no, no, i did some research after watching the show, now the wts is synonymous with corruption, deceit, slander, death, suffering, and the like.. 'hovah: well i uh, don't know about, uh, any problems, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh!.
JW's are always wanting to show their propaganda videos to return visits,bible studies, relatives and any one else they can turn into a captive audience so I think I will always have my copy of Dateline on the ready for any Jw's who decide to show up at my home.
My rule will be that we will have no discussion until they have watched Dateline with me.I doubt if they will take me up on it. But I will be ready for them anyway.
