Hi Messianic, and welcome to the forum
There are a few good doctrinal discussions from time to time, being mostly ex jehovah's witnesses on here, we are all well versed in false doctrine.
i just joined the forum, and wanted to say peace be unto all!
i hope to have some good doctrinal discussions on this forum.

hey gang, ive been away for a while so i thought i would come back with a bang, and share my good news - im 4 months pregnant.. but heres the really weird thing.
littletoe knew before i had told anyone.
he texted me and said "hows the pregnancy going?
You are welcome Katie, Trev sends his congrats as well.
As for me, I finished my chemo last week, for now anyway. The cancer is smaller, but not gone, and I have an appointment with the doctor next thursday to discuss future treatment, which I'll post about, or Trev will.
I've felt a bit stronger not having chemo, and I don't miss the feeling of nausea after each session at all! I combatted nausea by smoking pot, which was enjoyable lol, though only for medicinal purposes of course. Some days, I was too high to post!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
I am so happy for you!!
Linda
as witnesses, you are trained to feel guilty.
i don't know if i'm rare regarding my guiltless feelings but i have not had any guilt whatsoever after leaving the witnesses.
not even a little bit.....what about you?
Leaving was like changing jobs - I left a publishing company, not a religion. There was nothing to feel guilty about.
look back to your first post ever... what was it?.
mine was: (topic was: how many did you "bring in").
i brought in my ex husband but he is not active any more.
I just introduced myself, and said this
I have been a witness over half my life, and until recently never had any real doubt that I had the truth, but now I am very unsure and am currently not attending meetings or taking part in the ministry. I have looked at several sites on the net, and have read some of the posts on this forum (you seem remarkably well informed about us!), and I must confess that some of the stuff I have read has shaken my faith severely, to the extent that I am no longer sure that I have the truth at all. I am seriously beginning to wonder if the last 23 years has been a waste of time
I da'd a few weeks later, and have no doubts now whether it's the truth or not - I know for certain it isn't. I don't think the years as a jw were a waste of time though, through them I met Trev, and got to know several other people who are no longer jws now and who I count among my friends.
i have often wondered what's in it for the women???
i just read the story of minimus and it is so clear that such power and privilege on offer to males in the borg would be enticing and probably addictive... but the women will never have such offers or opportunities.
they will always be required to be in subjection.
The watchtower have written quite a bit about the place of women in the congregation, some it somewhat insulting, like this article from the August 22 1961 awake
The apostle Paul, in giving instructions on congregational meetings of Christians, stated, among other things: "I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man." (1 Tim. 2:12)......This rule is based on a principle that governs the relations between the sexes, namely: "The head of every man i s the Christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn the head of the Christ is God," (1 Cor. 11:3) The logic of headship must be apparent to all. If two or more intelligent persons are to cooperate, there must be organization, and for organization to be successful there must be a head. That Jehovah God, the Father, is the Head of his Son, Jesus Christ, is obvious; also, that his Son should be the head of his congregation. But not so readily appreciated is the statement that man exercise headship over the woman and that therefore woman should not exercise authority over the man.
However, the facts show that the headship of a man is both somatically and psychologically sound and in the best interests of all concerned, even as we shall see. Thus a leading authority on the human body (soma), Gray's Anatomy (1966 Edition), tells the interesting fact that as regards the human skull there is no difference between the male and the female until the time of puberty; but then as adulthood is reached the difference becomes more and more apparent. The female skull is lighter and its cranial capacity is about 10 percent smaller than that of a male, even as is the rest of the anatomy. The contour of the female skull is also more rounded and the facial bones are smoother. Apparently, with the lines of beauty goes less rugged strength.
True, mere brain size in itself is not as important as brain quality, but where the quality is the same the larger brain size has an advantage. Thus Science News, April 1, 1967, told of twenty African children who were so extremely undernourished in the first few years of their lives that "head circumferences...averages an inch less that the others, indicating smaller brain." And over the years all these were found to have verbal, mathematical and perceptual capabilities far below those of other children. Implicit in these findings is that man is advantaged by a greater brain size

So there you have it - men have bigger heads brains than women, so it makes sense that they excercise headship.
ok, i met my brother today.
he drove me to my eye appt out of town.
we rarely get time together alone (no spouses/kids etc).
That's great news BB. I hope he does join us
i'm studying with a jehovah's witness and it makes quite a bit of sense but i've been reading many topics on here and it seems that i can find every christian denomination and every religion except jehovahs witnesses.
do any jw's actually browse here?
maybe i'm just getting unlucky and picking the wrong topics where everyones discussing about how they used to be jw's.
Hi Michael, and welcome. Like many other posters, I encourage you to think long and hard before making any commitment to the watchtower.
be very careful of the hatred of JWs here and other similar sites... a quick search of posts will reveal this.
Actually, we don't hate jws here. We do hate the teachings a nd the damage following them have done to us and many others. Individual jws are just people following the in our view misguided teachings that many of us once followed
. Also be careful of some JWs tendency to blindly accept teachings. But that doesnt mean it isnt the truth.
However, the convenient doctrinal flip flops, which seem to happen when a prophecy is about to fail, indicate that it is a man-made rather than bible-based religion. The hypocrisy surrounding the watchtower's 10-year association with the United Nations, who they claimed to despise throughout that period (1992-2001), and their withdrawal from NGO status within weeks of the link being exposed, indicates that the watchtower leadership is less than truthful with the majority of it's members. Very few jws knew that the watchtower were affiliated to the UN as an NGO until the story appeared in a newspaper. You can read about the watchtower's doctrinal flip flops, UN involvement, and much more, on this link

I think you may find some of the information there very interesting
what proactive things have you done [or intend to do] to warn others about the cult you have escaped?
the unfortunate fact of life is that we tend to look only at our own personal benefits from leaving the cult if not careful.
or we give up after a failed attempt.
We have a website, mainly run by Trev, which gets visited by jws. We know this as some of them send us emails complaining about the anti-jw content - but at least they are reading.
All our neighbours are very well clued up on the watchtower, so I doubt they ever get anywhere round here. Most of the local jws shun us, so we don't really get an opportunity to talk to them.
found this interesting talk on e-watchman's site.
it was given by david splane, a gb member.. the talk is really interesting as it gives a more focused look at the troubles the society is facing as it trys to cope with education, peer pressure etc.. .

Well think about that, why are we being hated in the world. It is because Jehovah made sure there was enmity between the woman and Satan and her seed and his seed. So we should expect to be hated and have bad publicity
So all the bad publicity about child abuse cases is because of satan? And there I was thinking it was because of some jws raping kids and the org trying, and sometimes failing, to cover it up.
