I'm sorry Josie. I miss you from yahoo chat too ya know. I'm blessed to have wonderful parents, even though they're JWs (well my dad is a quasi-JW), and I'm disfellowshipped, they love me and treat me especially well.

Who Gives a Shyte if Russell was a Freemason or not?

I didn't read this thread, but I'll just comment that people who dig up Russell's old bones to see if he was part of a Freemason/Illuminati conspiracy, or that the JW organization supports Zionism in ANY way, would be better off diving into the Loch to look for the Monster, or treading the Northwest USA looking for Big Foot, or looking through a 1000mm telescope to find little green men in flying saucers. Seriously. If Barb Anderson, Jim Penton and Ray Franz don't report any JW/IBSA involvement with secret societies, then there ain't none there. 2 plus 2 does not equal 5. edited to add:
The important thing to most Witnesses is that he "understood the Ransom." Anything else he did contrary to "truth," were things to be "corrected" by God later.
Except Russell's ransom and the JW ransom differ. Russell believed in a ransom for ALL, including Adam, Eve, and Judas. He believed the second coming and Armageddon to be joyous affairs, to 'bless the nations.' JWs have themselves being blessed and everyone else ending up in the second death before the end of the Millenium of Christ's reign, something Russell never taught. So whoever said this is in error, sort of. Yeah Witnesses think Russell had the right idea about the ransom (even touting the famous split with Barbour over its substitionary credo) but the Witnesses believe something quite different today from what Russell taught.

Fe2O3Baby has arrived
by Fe2O3Girl inour son william grant was born last wednesday 2/11/05 at 20:43, weighing 9lb 2oz (4140g).
we are both really well.. it wasn't the birth experience i had hoped for - on my long list of things i didn't want to happen, the only things i avoided were induction, pethidine, episiotomy (i pushed too efficiently, no time to do it!
) and caesarean.

As I wrote elsewhere, I love the taste of coffee, drown it in milk. My favorites are Swiss Mocha or French Vanilla. But coffee makes me ill so I rarely drink it. :(

I was on Effexor briefly and it completely changed my personality. I was a wild man with major anxiety and anything would set me off, violently too. If a lot of JWs are on Effexor, that might explain some elders' behavior.

Interview with God (Let's write one!)
by AlmostAtheist ingod's been pretty quiet lately, and frankly, i think people have largely forgotten about him.
it's time that he took center stage again and reminded people he's there.
unlike in the past though when he might have killed somebody, floated an axe head, or caused some sort of atmospheric anomaly, today he'd be much more likely to simply show up on the today show for an interview.. let us assume that's what happened.

Man do I ever disagree. The smart people that have money to burn yet are frugal go by word of mouth. The dumb people (read: 90% of consumers) just pay whatever bill is handed to them: medical, energy, food, books/entertainment, whatever. Hardly anybody questions any pricing. I had this discussion with my mom downtown waiting with all these other disenfranchised people and you know, some shook their head and some agreed with me. Partly because I am a LOUD talker.

black, black coffee
by tetrapod.sapien inwhat is it with people who live life like they bought it at a store?
like they know exactly how it is supposed to work, and they live like it too?
like it's so simple.

I prefer French coffee, with as much milk as coffee itself.
But coffee usually makes me sick.
Therefore, this dude cannot abide.

pray to tetragod, and experience something you never have before...
by tetrapod.sapien inif any of you feel like praying and having your prayers heard and answered, feel free to send a prayer to me at [email protected].
i hear all prayers, and answer all prayers.
i will try to fulfill those within my powers, but i will be honest with you homo sapiens and say that i will not be able to fulfill all of them.

Many thanks for the mere acknowledgement, oh tetragod. I locked my car keys in my car once (when I had a car) and it was at a hospital so I had to borrow a hanger and unlock it through the window... had to inform security first. When I got the door unlocked two guys walked by and said "you looked like you did that easily, like you've had practice" I said oh yeah, but if I was stealing a car would I steal this piece of shit?

It's a mind controlling cult. Last meeting I went to an elder was giving a service meeting talked and said from the platform "Isn't it wonderful the faithful slave has given us the Require brochure, because people these days don't like to think, and in 32 pages this brochure can do all their thinking for them."
I also researched their claims on early church father, the cross, the Gentile Times, the last days, blood, what other religions really teach and believe, and then christianity as a belief system, and it was easy to throw it all out. I lost some JW friends, sure, but my JW family supported me and loves me to this day. My dad eventually quit going to the kingdom hall because he couldn't buy into a lot of JW and Bible stuff and he and I talk frequently. He also lurks on this board (hi dad!). I've been "out" for 8 1/2 years now. You won't find better friends than exJW ones and worldly ones who listen to your story (usually with a lot of "holy shit"s and "what the fuck"s... based on JW crap). I got DF'd 5 1/2 years ago when the elders hunted me down (hadn't been to any JW function but they still considered me a JW) and the charge was associating with a DF'd person. Absolutely retarded.
