in the case of jehovah's witnesses, the individual is introduced.
With all due respect, I think it is important to point out that there is a difference between someone who was
a practicing Jehovah's Witness and someone who was not.
That's true Wanderer, but it's interesting to get the perspective from someone who has never been a JW but at the same time has a really good knowledge of their practices. Sometimes a third party can see the issues more clearly.

My heart goes out to you all. To be abused as a child and then not listened too - worse than that - silenced. That's a lot to go through.
mzliz - the injustice of it all is mindboggling. Here you and a whole lot of others were abused and nothing was done. Now you are pregnant with your partner's child - 8 weeks to go. They should be supporting you at this time instead of harrassing you. If not family, I hope you have some other compassionate people around you.

Perish the thought! But before I left - I just wish I'd had the guts to wear trousers, black nail polish, have my nose pierced and contradict the WT in one of my answers.
If I do go at some future time (possibly to attend a wedding of a family member) I will be wearing trousers.
top memory: my childhood congregation was very musical; lots of people played.
a few times we'd have a jam session where this guy would dig out some pretty standard sixties rock, lead with the piano and we'd follow along (me transposing up on the clarinet...).
he was this sweetest guy, he used to mimic kermit the frog singing the rainbow song perfectly.
Some of the melodies aren't too bad - it's the memories that go with them.

From my point of view things started falling apart after 1975. The collapse was complete in 1995 when the generation of 1914 doctrine was changed. Unfortunately many JWs are so brainwashed that they fail to see the obvious. The young ones know nothing about 1975 (and it's denied now by elders who were there).

where to begin.
i guess things have been coming to a head lately with some other things happening in my life which simply do (or should that be did) not sit well with the indoctrination of the jw's.
i was pretty much brought up as a jw.

is it just me or has anyone here become a very angry person after leaving the organization?.
i mean in the sense where...you're more vulnerable to snap in a big way...like you've just developed so much anger inside you?.
for example since being df'd i think its created so much anger that i really just dont care.
Sorry gay pride but you can't blame everything on your disfellowshipping - that's not going to hold up in court. You need to take responsibility for your actions. Seek counselling - please.
the wtbts has figured out the perfect solution to all of mankinds problems.. they mainly use the awake!
magazine to tell us about the wonderful future that awaits us.. that magazine will have articles with headlines like:.
homelessness - will it ever end?.
Whenever I'm given one of those bland magazines with a title like "...... - will it ever end?" I get a strange sort of sick feeling. I can hardly bring myself to read them these days. Well most of the time I don't read them.
I wonder how many current jws feel that way?
