Russell also used the "knowlege will increase" thing. But what he failed to do was read this verse it its CONTEXT and see that it is bible knowledge only. (specifically knowledge of the book of Daniel and its meaning) He tried to attribute it to sewing machines and locomotive trains, etc. I wonder what he would of predicted if he lived during the computer age? Any thoughts on this?

Thanks. I am still reading it as an Angel of the Lord, not actually the Lord himself. See verse 1:8 in the NIV bible and the footnote.There is a footnote on verse 2:8 that in the NIV that says this is the Angel of the Lord. That is how I am reading it too. That there is an Angel delivering the message and he is speaking about the LORD Jehovah sending an Angel of the LORD Jehovah. Not two Jehovahs. Reading all of chapters 1 and 2, it shows clearly that it is the Angel of the Lord is the one that is sent.

In my bible the New International Version it reads very differently than yours. Which one are you using? It the NIV it clearly shows that it is an Angel of Jehovah saying that the Lord Jehovah has sent me. If you look at verses 3 thru 5, right before this statement it shows an Angel delivering the message not acutally Jehovah himself. When it reads "declares the LORD", it is not the LORD Jehovah but an Angel giving the declaration made by Jehovah. Remember Angels are messengers of God.

Sorry to hear what happened, I know it can be stressful.
If your boss is nice enough, you should give him the number and address to that kh and have him contact them and tell them that if they come back, he will call the police and have them removed for trespassing.
They can get pretty aggressive. When my hubby and I left, we were not sure if we wanted to send in a letter and DA or just fade at first. But the elders kept coming back and calling like every other day. I told them I was depressed and needed time to think things out and to please not come back. I kept all the lights off in the front of my home hoping they would not walk down the long, dark driveway (it was winter), but NO, even after all this, they came up to the door and kept knocking UNTIL I opened it. I lashed out and told them I felt they were intruding on my privacy and not to come back again. My hubby felt bad though and told them it was nothing personal but I was meaner. I told them I may commit suicide if they came back again because they were stressing me out. Of course, I was just pulling their chain but they stopped coming and that gave me time to write my DA letter. In it I told them to absolutely under no circumstances to come near my home or I would press harrasment charges.

Excuse me but why does it say on this invitation that NO COLLECTIONS ARE TAKEN? That is a BIG FAT LIE! We all know that volunteers come out and sit in very public places with collection boxes at appointed times during lunch break and at the end of each convention. LIARS!

attend 5 kingdom hall meetings each week.. report at least 10 hours a month in field service.. confess sins to your local elders.. report any other person's sins to your local elders.. believe everything the "faithful discreet slave" publishes in the pages of the watchtower.. wear a coat and tie (male) or modest skirt/dress (female) to all kingdom hall meetings.. do not 'partake' of the wine and bread at the memorial.. .

good post but remember, even if you do all those things..... and .....many more works....... according to the WT, you still may not even be approved to go into paradise. Because you can never be sure of your salvation as a Jehovah's Witness.

Your "New" Traditions?
by whyamihere ingrowing up as a jw, we were never allowed to have holidays or birthday's etc..... never able to show my brothers affection on their special day killed me.
now every year, i sing "happy birthday" to my brothers nick and ben.
i call them on their birthday, if they pick up the phone i yell and tell them i am going to leave a voice mail message.

I mailed Christmas Cards out to all my family I had lost touch with along with a family letter telling them what I am up to now. Family I had not seen in years sent letters back, pics of their new babies and I got invited to my first ever family reunion this July. It was really great!

They give you a guided tour through the bible and you learn their interpretation of it. You do not learn what the actual bible teaches at all!

feeling suicidal again.
Just to pull the chains of the brothers when they came for a sheparding call because I was missing meetings I put on a crazy women face and said "I am to depressed to attend and if you keep coming back I may have to commit suicide!". It worked, they never came back. That gave me time to write my 9 page letter of disasociation.

Have you ever had a premonition ?
by troubled mind ini think i have a few times in my life, but the one i had most recently really shook me up.
it was really a re-occuring thought and feeling more than anything else .i preceived it as something happening to me when in reality it happened to some one close to me.
it sounds stupid , doesn't it ?

I would pray to God for help in figuring out exactly what the gift is you have. And ask him to help you use it to help people. I found the more I paid attention to it, the better it worked for me. In the beginning, I didn't know what it was. I thought it was just coincidence. But then it happened too many times. And since my mom had it too and I noticed my daughter, I realized it had to be hereditary. I find it much stronger because I am open to it more since leaving the WT. Because they demonize everything. I realized that many people in the bible had dreams, foretold the future and had similar experiences and as long as they were considered Godly, no one demonized them. They attributed it to God and Holy Spirit. And I feel I have Holy Spirit. Also, since I dont have idols in my home and I am a Christian and do not ascribe to anything satanistic, why wouldnt I think it was a godly gift?
One excercise I do now is tell myself before going to bed what type of dream I would like to have. For instance I will say something like, I would like to dream something nice from my childhood or I want to dream about my deceased mom and I find that many times I can direct myself into having the dream I want. this I think, the more you do it, the more you are exercising your ability. My daughter says she does this all the time and she is only 13 and it works. Also when I have a premonition, I act on it all the time! The more you use the ability, the more it will work for you. I remember in the very beginning, I did have premonitions that I did not act on but I didn't know any better. Once I realized it kept happening I started trying to control it. I also just started praying to God to speak to me in my dreams and show me what he wants me to do to be a better person, Christian, etc. I will let you know how it works out. Goodnight now! Lilly
