they believe that the resurrection is the upcoming resurrection, but because death cleansed the resurrected ones of sin, it would be pointless to judge them on their past deeds, so "did good things" actually refers to what they did after their resurrection, and the judgement comes at the end of the 1000 years.

thanks for bringing up that point. You are correct.

I was addressing the resurrection only and that some would come back for judgement and did not see that the intitial poster used that particular verse in Romans to say we all pay for our sins upon death. As, you are correct that you have not automatically paid for your sin because you die physically. That verse in Romans 6 is talking about a different death. The point is that we who die in Christ (baptised into his death, meaning part of the chuch), have been released from our sins. Once we "die" this spiritual death - are sins are no longer counted towards us.

That is why I brought out in my post above, ONLY the church (those in Christ) at this time - pass over from death to life. Not anyone who is not part of the church - they must be judged by their deeds upon thier resurrection. That is why those who do bad deeds go to judgement. The church goes to life - their sins already forgiven.

I believe their power is real but that like the bible says: if you oppose the devil he will flee from you. So as a Christian and believer in the gospel, Satan has no hold on me whatsoever. I fear him in no way.

I don't judge anyone who is a satanist or believes in magical arts either. But, if he/she asks what the bible says about it, I am compelled to give an honest answer. Or, if it comes up in conversation, I may offer my views. I know some with these types of beliefs and I treat them with the same respect as I do other people but will not join in any activity I feel goes against my conscience. But do I run away from them? No.

The ones who are raised to be judged will have to repent of their past wicked ways and learn righteousness.This is what the judgement period is for, althought there are different opinions as to how long a period it is. If they repent, and change, they will be given everlasting life.

The church, those who put faith in Christ now and have already repentent from their sins, go to life upon their resurrection This is immortal life. They are the ones who did good things and do not have to be judged again. Becuase of their faith in Christ, they already passed from death to life.

There is a difference between immortal life and everlasting life. Only the church gets immortal life. But, Gods plan is to save all of mankind and all who repent and believe in Christ upon his second advent will have an opportunity to be saved also. This includes all who are dead in the graves.

Unlike the WT teaches, there is no second death at this time. There is no earthly hope either. The only option right now on the table so to speak (during the gospel age) is for you to become part of the church and recieve immortal life. This will be a large number of Christian believers, not only 144,000 as the WT says, but it will not be all of mankind. Once the church is all gathered to Christ and he comes again (second advent), all the rest of mankind will be addressed. Eventually the whole earth will learn about God, and Jesus will help them by removing all the obstacles that now keep man from believing in him including: satan who is misleading the earth, imperfections, mental and emotional illness, physical illness, poverty and depression, etc.

Because the church (believers in Christ now), accept Jesus at the current time, even thought they also face many of these obstacles, they are given a much better resurrection, to immortal life. The bible calls these ones overcomers. They overcame all the obstacles now in the current time and persevered thru trials and tribulation and remained faithful to Christ - never loosing their faith in him.

This is the good news of the gospel - that 99.9% of mankind will be saved - unlike the WT that 99.9 will be destroyed for not becoming Jehovah's Witnesses.

I feel sorry for them really because they think they will breeze thru into some earthly paradise after the tribulation but instead they will go into the judgement phase of Christ's return. Why? because they do not truly accept his sacrifice for their sins now like the church, because if they did they would partake at the memorial. By not partaking, they are showing that they are not in the body of Christ - which is the church. They are unknowingly rejecting his sacrifice made for them. So no matter how many works they perform, when Jesus arrives he will say to them "I never knew you" (Matthew 7:21)

i was talking to a female aquaintance the other day and in one breath she was telling me that it's great when she goes out salsa dancing because apart from enjoying the music she never has to buy her own drink as there is a constant stream of guys buying for her and then in another breath she was complaining that they annoy her because they are just after a bit of arse.

now i've seen the way this girl dresses on a normal day i can't imagine what she puts on when she goes out.

btw she does have great booty.

Letter to family - first draft

after a few weeks of being very angry with everybody, making an ass of myself, and being rotten company, a few people told me to start sorting this hurt and anger out, and an effective way is to direct it to the people who caused it - the people who shun me.

so i might send them this, or some version of this, in a while.

in october we're going to the other side of the country where they all live, to see my darling nan and maybe close things with the witnesses for good.

Sorry about what you are going through with your family.

The letter is excellent just the way it is, very articulate. It really gets to the heart of the important matters that we are all forced to deal with when leaving family and friends behind in the org.

Hamster - thanks for bringing out the point of the great crowd being in the inner sanctuary where God is and the four living creatures, etc. This is the same point I was going to make. If you read Revelation chapter 4 - it gives a description of everything surrounding the throne and this matches what is around the throne where the great crowd is. So they are obviously in heaven! There is no basis whatsoever to say they are on the earth. As we know this is the lie to justify the two classes of christians.

Also, I had a good laugh at the "warm brotherhood" - Not to be judgemental, but are they smoking crack in the writing dept? It used to burn me up when at the conventions, they would ask from the platform, "isn't it wonderful to be part of such a warm loving brotherhood?" and then everyone would clap and I would want to vomit.

I used to mumble under my breath and my hubby would get totally p**ed at me. Anyway, thanks again for the real spiritual food.

I believe that the Jehovah's Witnesses themselves idolize the Watchtower Society and I believe the WT society knows full well that they do it and approve of it.

How many "friends" did you know that would keep their stockpiles of unplaced magazines for years and not throw them out because they thought it was a sin in Jehovah's eyes?

I knew one lady too that told me she had some magazines put away for when Armegeddon came so she will have the proper spiritual food if the Society has to shut down for a while. I then asked her if she had a bible put away too and she told me she never thought about that. HUH?

This was typical and then you also had the "the society says" or "I wonder what the society says about" mantras. Is this idolatry? Yes, according to the bible, because the Witnesses put faith in their organization and quote "it" more than they quote the bible.

ok so with all this talk about geeting young people to get baptized, got me to wondering.... how young have you known someone to get disfellowshipped?.

you are so right! I found out from my therapist that children who are abused like I was have a much higher chance of getting involved in a cult like the JWs. My hubby was abused also. And a lot of the friends I knew in the KH came from almost the exact background. I think there have been studies on this in the past.

It makes sense because you are so used to having someone control you. My dad controlled all my friends too, what I wore, where I went, I mean everything. So, I went into the same environment because it felt so familiar.

Also, I spent a lot of my childhood looking for approval from my parents and to feel special which I never got and as an adult I still needed it. And with the JWs, they tell you a lot in the beginning how special you are since God chose you and you are better than everyone else. Well, because I never felt good about myself before that, I fell for this hook, line and sinker.

I am 37 now and I am finally free from this type of environment. I am still a Christian but consider myself a free agent in Christ. I associate with others in the faith and outside the faith. It is wonderful to be able to just live and make up my own mind on matters.

I feel like in many ways, I have just started living my life. I write poetry now and read lots of books, go to lots of movies and I have been widening out in my association with many others. I feel like my life was on hold for 12 years and have learned more about life in the past two years than I learned in the 35 years before that. I trully enjoy each day and consider it a gift. And I cherish moments with my family I took for granted before.

I am no longer a slave but a freeman (women) and life is wonderful!

years ago when i was attending my old kh there was an elder that was very stern.

bro glen(not his real name) used to be very firm in telling students about their talks not being good, or where they needed to improve.

i know i was "terrified" of bro glen.

Yes, there were three that I knew of in the 12 years I was with the Witnesses and one was an elder in good standing who beat his wife and three kids, and was an alchoholic. This guy REAKED of it, so I know it was not a secret.

Speaking of alchohol, this was a huge problem in one congregation I was in, about 1/2 the cong. abused alcohol. My hubby and I are social drinkers only and usually stop at 2 drinks. The "friends" would keep trying to push more and more drinks on us. I thought it was wierd but did not find out until much later that this kind of abuse in rampant in the JWs.
