isn't it possible that god created the universe to look old?.

think about it, when god created adam he was a full grown adult - not an infant.

he created eve as a full grown woman.. is it hard to believe that god could create a universe fully formed?

Actually, God created everything five minutes ago and made it seem like everything has existed for billions of years. Unfortunately, such a statement is not falsifiable.

They make you think there are no good people out there.

what a wonderful response i have received from my last (which was my first post) post from everyone here.

the one thing that was drilled into my head was that you can not trust anyone that is not a jw.

i had only one worldly friend since high school and she has been there for me thru everything.

Hi Lynntink, and Welcome.

Your topic caught my eye because I was thinking the same thing. I went to a Christmas party last night, my first ever. There were alcoholic beverages there, but no one got drunk. For music, three ladies played Mozart. I forget the name of the music. One lady was on piano. Another played clarinet, and the third played cello. It was beautiful. Then most people sang Christmas songs. People were pleasant. I had several great conversations and made many new friends. The food was enjoyable. A model "get together". And there wasn't a Jehovah's Witness in sight.

Timothy Campbell's Beyond JW website. I appreciated his calm, matter-of-fact approach. I devoured the contents of his website and took his challenge to "destroy my faith" by reading Crisis of Conscience and Who Wrote the Bible?. Then I was ready to come over here. Things have been getting better ever since!

The best car I owned was a 2000 Toyota Echo. Averaged well over 40 MPG. It even got 49 MPG on a cross country road trip once. Sold it last year when I moved to the Caribbean. Cheap to buy, unlike the hybrids. Cheap to own, never broke down. Its appearance was a bit of an acquired taste, however. A great small car.

i think i'm about done my mom can stay i don't care fortunetly my dad never joined and sence he is the head i hope he won't just kick me out till i'm ready.

I agree with Blues. Basically, "I don't want to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses." No arguments. No discussions.

I don't quite get it when others say that a DA letter, or just saying the above statement to an elder, is somehow playing by "their" rules. Playing by "their" rules means going to meetings, preaching door-to-door, reaching out for "privileges", etc.

As for my family, I told them what I did. Then, when they expressed their surprise and confusion, I once again refused to discuss or argue. To discuss or argue is to play by "their" rules and implies that you might be willing to compromise and change your mind.

I did give them a recommended reading list. If they read Crisis of Conscience, then, and only then, do we have something to discuss about the Witnesses. Other than that, I let them know that I still love them and will always welcome them and talk to them.

Rememeber, you are in control.

How do you view the Bible?

i think that the bible gives hope and comfort.

i also think that the bible is a good book without me saying too much.

but is it a product of god?

There is alot to like about the Bible.

It teaches us to avoid talking snakes.

It helps us understand why rainbows appear.

It shows us that older men can have deep love for younger men (Jonathan and David) and not be gay.

It shows us that God likes the smell of burnt flesh.

It helps us to understand that God wants what is best for us so much that if we don't obey him, he'll kill us.

It helps us know that being naked is bad, unless you are perfect.

It teaches us that God is interested in what your penis looks like (sorry ladies).

It teaches us that humans can be property, and God is okay with that.

It teaches us that women should remember their place and be content with bearing lots of children.

Most of all it shows us how God could not forgive anyone unless his own Son was tortured and killed.

Is God unbelievable, or what?!?

When is a fade finished?

so i was thinking - if i don't da myself and they don't df me, am i doomed forever to this limbo called "fade?

" when do i stop worrying about "what if they find out?

" when will they (if they saw me) just think of me as someone they knew, rather than "one of their flock" - even when they know i'm inactive?

To answer your question: A fade is finished when you don't want to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses anymore. It's that simple. Just go about your life. If an elder comes to "encourage" you, then just tell him straight out "I don't want to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses anymore." Tell him that there is nothing to discuss. Say that if you should ever decide to come back, you will then be happy to discuss the issues with the elders. Until then, you would rather not argue with anyone about your decision. Basically, that is what I did back in August. Life is good.
